Reaaly, has there been a CAT five hurricane on the north coast? In the past twenty five years Jeanne (Category 1). 16 September 2004. East Coast, Samana and Puerto Plata. Very small brush last year

Jeanne did not reach hurricane force in Cabarete. Technically a tropical storm. Close but no cigar.

I was a paying customer where this bar is located exactly one time. There are a several reasons I never went back. I will not be talking about them on this forum.

Frank12, since SKY is a great friend of Big Frank and has information on what is transpiring in the courts, what is SKY getting wrong in his statement that the court has already made a final decision after a long process regarding Jose O'Shays? SKY's original post states emphatically that Rocky's Aqua is at the end of the line.

What I find rather confusing is that both SKY and Frank 12 apparently have first hand information straight from the horse's (Big Frank's) mouth yet if I am reading correctly they are saying different things: SKY that the court case has concluded, hence the closure, and Frank12 that the case is still ongoing.

Frank12 has not spoke to Frank at all for a long time. He is making his own confusing comments. Nothing he says here comes from Big Frank.

Sky, I am in touch with Big Frank as much or more than you are. What would ever give you the idea that I am not? But that's beside the point. The point here is that there will be more court battles. There always are. Or do you think people are just going to get up and walk away and forget about it?

Who on earth would ever believe that?

I don't have a dog in the fight. Whoever wins, wins. It doesn't effect me. But it does effect the employees and staff. And to me, that should be the paramount issue here.

This shouldn't be an argument here about who knows more about what, and when.

I'm not here to share anyone's dirty laundry. It's a court battle. I know what side you're on. Good for you. I understand it. I get it. I'm not on anyone's side. I'm neutral. I'm for the staff, the employees.

It says here that last year, 2017, Hurricane Irma--which was a Category-5, and that was followed by another Category-5 hurricane, Maria. Which two hurricanes was it that came close the the DR--Maria and Irma? They were exactly 2-weeks apart.

And what category they were when they passed the DR, I'm not sure, but it's not an understatement to say that we got hit with a lot of wind and rain, and all of the staff showed up to work, only to be sent back home when then the police came by and told the entire beach to put everything away and lock down the hatches.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_Atlantic_hurricane_season

And here is the video i shot of it from both work & home...

Found it!! It was Hurricane Irma--a category 5. I shot this from both work and home as well. And again, all of our staff showed up to work, only to be sent back home...

Imo. The North coast is protected. The east coast is just lucky.

A big hit to the east coast could drive up interest in north coast investment.... Just sayin

To say that we got hit by either storm is ridiculous and self serving. We got some of the outer bands from a storm the size of Texas. Puerto Rico, BVI's, USVI's, got hit by both. The large swell last winter did more damage. Trust me, if and when we get hit by a hurricane it will be a life changing event.

I hope that there is a positive outcome for all involved in Rocky's.

Big Frank arrived in town last night and is staying in my condo complex. There is another court date on Tuesday so he didn't have much to say about this case until after, but there are two things he wants people to know. First, he has absolutely no interest in reopening any type of business in Cabarete. All he wants from Rocky is the money he is owed. That's it. Second, he has absolutely nothing personal against Rocky himself. He actually wants to see Rocky succeed with his restaurant. After all, how is he supposed to get his money if he doesn't succeed? So can we end the rumor that Big Frank is going to bring back Jose O'Shays to Cabarete or that he wants to see Rocky fail. Neither is true.

Thanks for the update. I cannot imagine Big Frank wanting to come back to Cabarete after thinking he was cashed out and retired. Can it be imagined that the money due is paid and Rockys as is re-opens? Tuesday may tell.

This is a lesson to those that want to sell something anywhere, but especially here. Make the deal and get ALL of your money before you turn over anything to the buyer.

I don't know. To me it seems that if Rocky doesn't pay the rest, the ownership will return to Big Frank, who will then have however much he has been paid, plus the opportunity to sell again. Am I wrong here?

That is a logical conclusion and follows the facts about what just happened with the place being closed from lack of payment.

After payments to lawyers, perhaps a final (final) decision will be reached. Some think it will drag on in courts for years.

Possible. But the truth is that it is in the interest of both parties that Rocky's reopens. Big Frank just felt that this was his only option for getting the money that was owed to him.

If true, then why was money withheld? Failure to pay after agreements are in place means someone does not think it is in their best interest to pay.

Having a place get foreclosed, and everybody knows it, and then reopen is flushing even more money down the drain. Even of the same management can pull off a rebranding, the place is still tainted and folks will gossip about it.

The #1 reason places get foreclosed is not an argument over a minor issue like you don't like the equipment you bought. It's because you either can't or don't want to pay what is due, whether rent, mortgage payments or a balloon note.

I would be shocked beyond all belief if this Rocky guy re-opens. I would not be at all surprised, actually, I'd expect it, if this Rocky guy goes back to CT with his tail between his legs...and a little wiser.

I can't recall any deal that went bad where foreclosure was not the final act. Can you? When you have the cops come and remove everything under lawful order...well, that's pretty serious.
