I have had----Praise the stars---very few contacts with dentists in the course of my whole life.
Annual check ups at family dentist, wisdom teeth removed in a private clinic, and a broken tooth replaced by family dentist....... nothing else, so i don't really have anything to compare with.
In the dr i go to a dentist in a neaby " town" just for a yearly clean up. Just OK-ish practice, but she is nice.
1 year + ago a chicken bone broke one of my molars
So i went to see her and she cleaned everything up and put in a filling but warned me it was not sure that would be enough to get the job done.
From that point onwards and for the first time ever, that tooth was subject to discomfort when eating cold stuff ( like ice cream ). Not pain, but discomfort.
Well, last thursday, i had a
searing pain in that tooth....... so i did what one does in that case, and doused it in home-made pear moonshine
.
Saturday i was still in pain and started worrying...... pain so bad i couldn't sleep.
Tuesday, i finally got round to going to my local dentist...... yeah yeah i know, but week-end, dia de la constitution moved around, lazy, etc........
Nothing she could do
...so referred me to a colleague of hers in Mao.
Such pain, that after a quick recon Wednesday and against my wife's advice ( she suggested dental cibao in santiago ), well i went with it.
Nicely surprised i have to say. Clean, modern offices.
Very nice doctora ...... pregnant up to her ears though..... giving birth tomorrow lol.....
Advertised price was 14k pesos.
I paid 10k cash + 600 pesos for a panoramic x-ray...... cash w/o insurance.
Another 800 pesos at pharmacy for a weeks worth of antibiotics and pain killers ( that i won't take, but are there if i need them ).
I would recommend IF you speak spanish. Dentalfa is the name of the place.
