There is nothing wrong w/listenimg to your parents', or even your grandparents', music. In my mind there is only good music(classic music). I can rock Beethoven, Berlin, Hendrix, Marley, and etc., just as I can Puente, La Lupe, Celia, Los Van Van, Fernandito, El Caballo, Millie, and too present day artists, e.g., Calle 13 (like I replied in your post), Shakira, Lady Gaga, Usher, JayZ, Prince Royce, Romeo, Beyonce, Kanye, Rihanna, Weezy, and etc.

i am still not sure that what Lady Gaga does in music, but what do i know?

lady gaga is actually quite a skilled musician, probably one of the few pop singers of today who can read (and write) music, play instruments and actually sing quite well. sadly, she sells her product by the means of ass flashing. it's a nice piece of meat but she has a genuine talent. i like most of her songs and i look forward to the foolery of her next video but it saddens me that she brings herself down to the level of autotuned manufactured starlets with all this nekkid wriggling.

somehow the paragraph above caused my imagination to suddenly picture ruben blades in full drag, twerking on stage. ha ha ha.

actually, it is just rank commercialism that has caused Lady Gaga's musicianship to become second fiddle to visual antics. today, it is all about showmanship, and playing to the lowest common denominator. if Chaka Khan had come along today, she would have been a nonentity, because of her weight, and Chaka is the baddest female singer ever. Joe Cocker would have also been a trivia question, while no- talents like Bieber get the accolades. music today is pure crap. even salsa has gone to the dogs, with that whiny sissy drivel from people like Marc Antony and La India. barf..

not only Ruben, but i would not hold my breath expecting to see Lee Sklar and Vinnie Colaiuto either.
