Hi everyone. i am taking a trio of us to Playa dorada (Fun Tropicale) at the back end of november '08. I was at Sun village a couple of years ago and paid a vistit to cristal nightclub, I was wondering if was still there and if anyone knows how far it is. I'm hoping by luring them to a gents night out it might get them to feel a bit more adventurous about exploring more of the real DR.

stay away from Cristal! the place is a dump, and as soon as you walk in 20 fairly ugly girls will jump on you like they haven't eaten in weeks and need money quick, then when you tell them to leave you alone they will start walking away and each one will give you a middle finger in your face! i wonder who runs that sh*thole anyway? also the charge 200 RD for a Presidente. El Bohem is 10X better, although nothing special.
What do they charge at el Bohem for a Presidente? And is it really 10X better than Cristals? Fascinating observation. Do you know who runs either place? Where do you suggest they go?
Just a suggestion.
You can turn left on the port road coming from Costambar at the first stop light as you enter Puerto Plata. About 50 yards down on the left there are 3 small bars that have strip shows nightly and the rum and beers are very reasonable, in fact cheap.
But you have to be really brave or go with someone who lives here because they are local Dominican bars not geared for the tourists.

I guess if you want to complain about prices it would be nice to know. But you're right who cares. They are places the taxi drives take the tourists for a nice commission.
Why do you want to waste your money in a stip club ,when you could pick up 2 or 4 ladies at the same time and dried your pipe all night long till there is no more (for little money!)

Thank you!!! I came there(mind the pun!) Christmas'06 and had an amazing time getting around and seeing the island quad bikes, lorimar horses, paradise island, sosua (all a bit touristy I know!) had such a great time, i didn't think that one of the highlights for me would to sit on Sosua beach, drinking and playing dominoes with the locals! I want to get these guys off the beaten track, girls seemed like a good way to coax them out!! If any of you guys live out there and know the place would be great to know of places to sit and relax and watch the world go by...............

i have know idea who runs Cristal, but whoever it is has lost control of the place, or doesn't care, or Cristal is a money laundering scam. El Bohem is run better, more professional, and girls don't molest clients unless the client wants it. forgot how much the beer is, but if you offer the girl a drink she will order some tequila or whatever it is and it costs 400 RD. there are a lot of bars around that have girls MILLION times better than what you'll see at the either strip club, just make sure they have IDs.

I see you copied the coupon link from earlier for him great idea. A noted club with action charging about $5 for a small beer? Ok US prices but hey why not it says no cover. You could be hit for ten bucks then pay $8 for beer try the east coast. I wonder if a girl is still around at closing time and a guy cuts a deal at $100 then she recants what is really going on. First who is in control, the peso should be but apparently there is more there. Perhaps this guys idea of a Whopper was stopping at Burger King to get a sack of them to take back to the hotel. Humans and alcohol do not always make sense when it comes to business. I think this guy needs to travel more.

I researched this intensely and believe what you are hereing zero tolerance is pretty much it. I have connections in LE and Gov't and Lawyers in the family and have researched this to death and believe me when I say researched I mean it. I have an in-law the works for an Embassy that has access to info you don't and she said Don't do it. According to my research you might find a cop that if you pulled our several hundred dollars he might???? go away but remember it would have to be a lot because he could bring you in and after all the fines and bail and jail you might spend 25k to get out and he would get a taste that way too. They have to justify the millions of dollars our DEA gives them a year to keep it from being a drug transportation stop country. Do what I resolved to do drink, eat and be merry.

if it was not for you guys I would not find places to get laid when I travel around the world (Costa Rica, Dominican republic, El Salvador etc. . . .).
FIRST DAY: Based on threads I went to PASSION in Susua. It was $ 60 round trip from RIU hotel in Puerto Plata.
The place was AMAZING. Girls were great, selection plenty, rooms with shower, service great, price great (menu/price on website). I cannot tell you enough good thing about PASSION and it has a website!
Price was steep for cab ride $ 60 round trip, but based on reviews, I HAD TO GO.
I chose a "black" Tahiti girl, my first and she literally rocked my world. Great personality and service!!
Today, I tried CRISTAL in Puerto Plata which is only $ 40 from hotel (round trip)
Yes, cab rides are expensive here at $ 7/gallong what you expect!
Anyways, for those of you who wonder, Cristal is NOTHING to compare to Passion.
Okay so I walked in and made my way to the bar, along with 2 other guys hanging out. All the girls came... I was kinda pressured to pick one so the others would leave and go back to SLEEP on the couches (yes, there is a a pole and dancer, but I am the only one that came close to dancing on it.... too many drinks what can I say... lol)
I picked a girl.. got her a drink and she asked for $ 100 for in room or $ 140 to take out... seriously? she was not as pretty as the one at Passion and there I paid $ 65 but whatever... Don't want to hear SH*T about being cheap, I can afford it, so I went for the $ 100. The room was SO INFERIOR to the ones at PASSION and NO SHOWERS....
Yes, I got my money's worth and pounded the **** out of her, but still the experience was not the same. Had I not been to Passion I would not have a reference and this place might be okay, but knowing what else is just 20 minutes away....
Needless to say tomorrow I am going back to Passion... only decision is who will I ****!
