Is the taste that much better? I have never tried or doubt I ever will taste deep fried turkey.

I wouldn't say the taste is far superb to rotisserie or oven roasted, but cooking time is significantly reduced. 15 lbs done in 90 minutes. There is the issue though of making gravy, and if you like dressing well that's an issue too.

Rocky's always did a great Thanksgiving, with lots of pictures after for those who couldn't attend.

The Webers don’t have enough cooking space (charcoal ones)
This is all charcoal.... there are hybrid models, char and gas, but I’m a charcoal chef

This is a good one... almost a smoker too

Yep, we got a round Weber one. Nice heavy construction but not much cooking area.
I would be concerned with obtaining charcoal (gas tanks appear plentiful), but one earlier thread addressed that. It can be had if one knows where to look.

Isn’t it more moist with deep frying?

I have Webers here in RD and the USA and formerly in Canada
I love them but the surface area is small beyond 4 people

I have an electric deep fryer that you can use indoors safely and its been making great deep fried turkeys for a few years. A 12 lbs turkey take only about 45 minutes to cook, and its always guaranteed moist and tender. We have been experimenting with a few injected marinades to add flavor. Yes, gravy and stuffing has to be cooked separately.

Really it's more about meeting friends, fellow Yanks mostly and we also let Canucks in on the club since some said the Huron Indians participated in the orginal Thanksgiving feast, but I believe it was the Wampanoag Indians who were original participants. Doesn't matter, the more the merrier - more holidays, the better

But nothing beats Thanksgiving at grandmas, no-lump mashed potatoes, the stuffing and gravy, the celery filled with various Kraft cheese spreads and that Mincemeat (thank the Brits) or Rubharb pie. And Oh the homemade breads and rolls and finish it off hand-churned peach ice cream.
And of course sun-tea in the never-empty crystal pitcher.

on more than one drunken occasion. If my memory serves me correct
it was Quarter Masters on the back end. Happy days!

I went last year,it's buffet style all you can eat,decent spread,free mimosas. I don't know if it's worth 1200 pesos though. Last year I think it was 1000.

Done and done. Remove the giblets from the turkey, boil them down for a couple of hours, and you have your gravy stock. chop the giblets, and use the remaining stock for stuffing.

agree. most accidents are caused by not using common sense and not following detailed youtube instructions. you gage the amount of oil to use by immersing the unwrapped bird in the pot, and fill with water till the bird is covered. remove the bird, and mark your waterline. foolproof. besides all the pots i've seen which come in these kits have a "fill to" mark.

i've been deep frying my turkeys for years without incident. will NEVER revert to the conventional method. use of common sense, and following the myriad of youtube vids on the subject will keep you out of trouble.

....you know in this country everything needs be deep fried....the more hot oil the better..............
