Again....
why is Punta Cana not affected?

all we hear is complaints about costs at POP while PC chugs along outpacing the rest of the country.
The ministry of tourism must see what we see...

Maybe Google number of hotel rooms on NC compared to PC.

Is it a 30:1 ratio? Higher?

20:1? 50:1?

Punta Cana is of course the main reason the north coast lost business. North coast hotel owners converted into condos where people sometimes actually visit or rent them out. The lack of demand reduced the number of airlines will to fly to the north coast and the prices went up, also partly due to the high cost of dealing with POP airport and taxes.

Will three new Marriott luxury hotels change much on the north coast when to comes to flights? Probably night, the people that will stay at those hotels can pay first class all the way. Price is no object to them.

Blue Collar Town in New Jersey
Is that the # of ROOMS next to each Hotel Name ?
Holy SMOKES ... I never knew that ..
I did not even believe it , but I looked up Hard Rock , ,and sure enough they boast 1790 Rooms as posted, and 18 hole Golf course , 13 Pools, 23 Bars, 65,000 sq feet of meeting space .. etc etc ..
That is just beyond HUGE ...for a Beach Hotel .
Wow.

Punta Cana is a behemoth..........

The lack mof amenities (IMO) is what the north coast lacks

You offer feces... you get feces.

Face lift - rebuild.... call it what you will....

as for UK flights.... as I said , I'm working on my daughter

Paris to SDQ was mentioned...
seems easy to me... London to Paris (Chunnel train?)...and a non-stop flight 3x a week in season

Paris-SDQ on AF is insanely expensive during high season, especially at the last minute (around 3 K/RT)*.
How about flying into Madrid then look into Iberia ? Although I am not sure it would make a lot of difference.
Brussels ?

*Air Caraibes flies from Paris to SDQ too.

There are some good deals going the other way for anyone making a last minute decision to go back to the UK for Christmas. 149.99 Euros on 16th, POP to Brussels. Tempting.....if I didn't have things to do here.

That's quite amazing even for one way, I wonder if that even pays for the gas, let alone the taxes... !? Then they shut down the route and say it was not profitable - maybe there is no demand, who knows.... !

my fren,
this is your first and only warning regarding your attitude. i am all for negativity and pessimism but if you have nothing of value to add to the discussion maybe it's good time to learn how to stay quiet.
so either learn how to comment in direct reference to the question asked by the OP or you will find yourself with an infraction.
i hope we have an understanding. happy festivus.

Someone mentioned this Eurowings route may be picked up and taken over by another airline, well, let's hope... (it was a very useful LHR -> DUS -> POP route.)

DUS - AZS (Samana) was even better for connecting flights as it departs Dusseldorf later in the afternoon - 3-30 pm. Plenty of time for connecting flights from other countries/cities and without the need of staying overnight in Dusseldorf.

I took the DUS to POP on a Friday a while back and it left 1:30pm, I think other days it leaves 11:30am, can still catch it with early London flights, but in any case it will be sadly missed....

Condor were supposed to be picking up flights from FRA to POP and AZS. The program was planned to use Thomas Cook Airbus A330s. With the demise of TC, Condor are looking for aircraft to fulfil those routes. Nothing definite yet.
