The requirement that is being dropped by NYS applies to domestic passengers and involves a quarantine requirement not testing as far as I know.

You think that from the DR to NYC one will still need the PCR test?

After the big fanfare in the press that the government would pay for PCR tests for tourists staying in hotels returning to the US, those of us who own hotels have been trying to find out how we get such tests done for free. The ministry of tourism sent us a list of places that we have to send tourists to, but all have a price for tests. The lowest is RD$ 5000 and the prices go up to an eye-watering RD$ 12,500 (US$ 215) for someone who needs a test at the airport. People keep calling to ask how it works, and when you have to explain that it's between US$ 100 and US$ 215 per person just for the test it's seriously putting people off from coming.
Would be good if you ask to your nearest tourism office what you need to do or apply for to get the facilities of free covid test for your guest as the list they sent to you is not free as should be.

It's been posted before. If you're a tourist, you can get a test at the airport for 2000 pesos - about $35. No big deal. No appointment needed.

Why did you get a PCR tests when all you needed was an Antigen test (if they asked, of course).?

I thought it was PCR only. They asked for NADA.
Plane was sold out. There were about 5-6 seats available which were middle seat in extra leg room.
at one point they stopped people from entering with overhead luggage. Gate check.

The USA requires only an Antigen test. Canada needs a true PCR test.

Two friends of mine flew from POP to MIA about two weeks ago. They had to show the test to check-in for the flight. Nobody asked to see the test when they arrived in Miami.

Today we had a guest who wants to fly on Thursday (2 day's time). He went to Amadita but they are now saying that you need to download an app to a Dominican cellphone (this service is for tourists????) and then get a code which allows you to register on a app to get a test slot.

He went to two other labs, one had more than 50 people ahead of him and one had more than 80.

So he came back to the hotel and said he will have to spend all day tomorrow getting his test.

They do not ask for it when you arrive in the US. It is up to the departing airlines to check on this.
