Prostitution can be and will be eliminated in Sosua VERY SOON.
They will create for them plenty of non-sex jobs. Paying $1500- $2500 US a month. And the issue is solved.
And now finally they are working on it. By the year 2021 there will be not a single girl in the streets of Sosua. Only men.

It is like stabbing a person who is already bleeding so all the blood doesn't flow out one spot!

What the authorities are doing has nothing to do with ending prostitution.

It has to do with cleaning up the negative image of Sosua.
Prostitution has become a part of this negative image. Therefor
I think it safe to say it has to do with ending the negative impact
prostitution has had on the town no matter who is caught in the
cross fire.

Several articles have been written in the last 6 months in both
English and Spanish, in the national press online, to back this up.

What I'll never understand about these people who choose to dable
in this lifestyle is...
why would they bring so much attention to themselves in such a
small environment?

Sounds to me like all of this is a done deal and all that there is left to do is to pick up that dead horse in the street that we have so thoroughly beaten to death . :)

I really like visiting Laguna SOV outside Sosua with family and kids.
A great place for the whole family, kids can play in the pool and/or the indoor playground under adult supervision, and I can relax with good local craft beer. Best place for kids I have visited in the NC.
Closed now for adding new attractions/renovations but reopens dec. 23.

The nearby pool at Sosua Ocean Village are meanwhile open, nice water park there too.

Modern facilities, very family oriented five minutes drive from Pedro Clisante. Good for Sosua!

First time back in close to a year and took a walk to Ahnvee. The sidewalks and lighting are slightly improved in town and Ahnvee is quite impressive given its size and tranquil atmosphere. There were about 100 people around the pool but unfortunately for some, hardly any spandex.

As far as the future goes, my bet is Ahnvee will be shut down just like all the previous popular bars before it.

"When US sends its people to Sosua, they're not sending their best."

I think that's the exact quote, or something along those lines. :)

Funny because when I watch videos of the DR some people who are of the lighter complexion look homeless or belong in a trailer park.

You can tell that by someone's appearance? Regardless of the amount of melanin in the skin, Sosua doesn't hold attraction for most people.

Exactly correct. Only whore mongers cannot see this. Not sure why they cannot. I guess they just don't like change or making access even a little bit harder. Prostitution is not going away, just going elsewhere.

More than one "pan blanco" has come to the DR and squandered all their money on booze and ladies.

Now let's get back to the future of Sosua. What is happening regards to Sosua beach, the Hilton, Dream City and other developments?

So I just don't get it. Kings, formally known as Rumba gets shut down along with all the other places that fateful night....and they get shut down because of the presence of prostitutes in their establishment. So what do they then go and do, set up in the old Morua Mai restaurant at the other end of Pedro Clisante directly in front of the main entrance to the beach AND directly in front of the only public park in Sosua, where there is a children's park....so the same type of clientele are now going to be in an area where there will be families sitting in the park area and as Sosua is promoting the town to be 'Family Friendly' families have a tendency to stay out a little later in the evening with their kids....and now they open up a weekend warrior bar/restaurant right there....how were they even permitted this to happen??? What a 'flustercluck'!!!

Ray only wants to have a restaurant. It was never his intention to make Kings a ho hang out but obviously in that part of town they were bound to enter especially as more guys were eating his food.
He wants the new place to be a restaurant / sports bar. Would I ever do it? try again so close to the old spot? Not in a million years but he's a good guy, I wish him the best and I'll visit the spot when in town.

Kings (former Rumba) is opening in Morua Mai's location, but not solely on his own. Let's just say the owner of Morua Mai will "be involved". As far as "never" being Ray's intention to make King's a "ho hang out", I'm not so sure. The value of that property was the fact that IT WAS a "ho hang out". Buying a bar/restaurant in the most prostitute populated area of a town known for its prostitution and which previously had their financial windfall thanks to that prostitution makes me a little skeptical. But that's water under the bridge now anyway.

Ray has plans to make the original location into a hotel and is already working with "city hall" on that plan. I agree Ray is a good guy and I also wish him well. It's encouraging to see he is looking forward with respect to his old location and is already working to conform to the new zoning.

Not only is King's (Rumba) moving west, the former "After One (Starlight) Disco" next to the Coral Reef Casino will be re-opening with some of the staff from Classico/Merengue moving to that location.

Had people just been discrete, there would be
no need for the changes. Unfortunately people
opted to say cukf you, we'll do as we damn well
please. You tell you, who is in the right and who
is in the wrong?

My opinion is that truth is more important than discrete. Being discrete is in actuality, hiding something. Had a brother who liked to chase girls even when married. He wanted to be discrete. His wife on the other hand sd "If we are going to do it why don't we be honest and join one of the clubs called 'wife swapper clubs.'"? I, like her, never did figure out discrete. An adult couple can tell their kids that they don't belong in that side of town.

So if After One does open up the it just reiterates my earlier point that the prostitutes will start off the evening hanging around Kings new location and then others will be there when After One opens so in effect the problem will not be solved at all. At least with other establishments moving to the other end of Pedro Clisante then there was visibly less prostitutes in the main area where the city want to make it more family orientated. But with Kings and After One I see it going back to the main problem why these places got shut down in the first place! I understand what Rays 'intention' is, but these girls will go wherever there are guys and the only thing I see that will happen is the police will get even more aggressive than they are now with the girls directly in front of the tourists making it look even worse!

Of course most people are in opposition to the idea of truth being more important than discretion. Dislikes don't surprise me at all! Have seen this type of silliness for 70 years!

but but but its not about the chicas, its about the spandex and bubble gum getting in the way of the emerald city that's being built. When you're leaving a Marriott tower you don't want to be accosted by a chica wearing spandex and thigh high spiked heeled boots.
