the simply reason is they did not build their economy solely around tourism. Sosua proper is a tourist town, 90 percent of the GDP is trickle down from tourists.It never ceases to amaze me how all of the other small towns in the DR are able to survive without the tourism.
Same as Cabarete, maybe 98% tourist GDP
Regardless of whichever clientele they choose to service, hopefully the economics of tourism swing in the other direction in a short period of time.
Like you said, 10 - 12 years ago Pedro Clisante was wall to wall people at night. The gov't started putting the message out that mongers were not as welcome anymore and it began to slowly taper off. And yes, people suffer. I've always said that. It's not great for those being affected, but hard to avoid it.
But tourism will come back. I'm sure of it. Covid will pass, and North Americans want Sun, sand and warm weather. They'll come back to Sosua.
El Tablon had to happen. That was a whole lot of raw sewage going into the bay. Killing the reefs, fish and tourism. That was not a healthy place for people to call home. Yes, people get uprooted from their homes but it is progress. I was in el Tablon a few times, and the ones that took the move to Gov't housing in La Union are much better off. I"m sure a few Tablonians stayed in Sosua.
Explain to me how not being favorable to whore mongers has discouraged non whore mongers?
I know, all of the people in Sosua will disappear soon. Just like they will in every Dominican town without enough whore mongers to save them.
Yes he claimed he paid for the painting of Sosua and clean up , Government is broke and a few other non essential words then radio silence...
What are you talking about? I never said that. Sosua will always be there, it will go on without large tourism.
Just look at the town (pre Covid) It is a shadow of itself. I will leave it at that.
Have you been to Villa Liberation...you have to be kidding me. They have to truck water in. It's not a very nice place to live. Good God man.

Unfortunately many of the women who service the whore mongers do
not have the mental capacity to work a normal job. Most (not all) are
lazy drug addicts who are more interested in getting their hair done or
having money to buy new handbag with a pair of shoes. Hello JetBlue and W.U.
I almost feel bad for the Johns too. Its a nasty cycle.

Let me try. You are sitting down playing bingo at the Jolly Roger when the police start fighting with a bunch of hookers, eventually throwing them in the back of a pick up truck. Tomorrow, you are walking to the Jolly Roger when a swarm of hookers and police are running down the sidewalk, forcing you to duck out of the way for cover. Rinse and repeat.
Let me add to this ...they shut power down to town and bring army in round up Hookers and close down town...
