If we keep it under 8I’m in! I can bring my guitar, maybe Windy can back me up. We can belt out a few Union songs and end with a rousing rendition of We shall overc*m.

Where? The proximity to the USA and the exchange rate is what drives that lifestyle. And yes the "Mongers" will follow. The people of the Dominican Republic are the only ones that can affect change. And guess what? DO you see any of them lining up to do so? This thread can go on till Jesus returns and until then nothing will change. Keep hope alive.....LOL
Seems as though the "people's" elected officials ARE affecting change. The people of the Dominican Republic are the only ones that can affect change. And guess what? DO you see any of them lining up to do so?

Ever been to Mexico? Or Panama? These places cost the same to get to as the DR and the girls are just as available. I rode my Yamaha from Miami to Panama and going through Mexico a girl of about 19 asked to go with me. She didn't have a passport, and I didn't choose to finance one, so she stayed in Mexico, but the chicas are there and just as available.
For the last few years, many of the guys have been going to Colombia. That trend is only going to increase.
Flight time from Santo Domingo to New York is 3 hours 49 minutes. Non-stop.
Non-stop flight time from Miami to Santo Domingo is around 2 hours 30 minutes
The total flight duration from Miami, FL to Panama is 2 hours, 48 minutes.
Don't see no big difference there myownself, 12 minutes, not time to get your shoes back on for TSA!
I've been to Panama, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Colombia. The majority of mongers in Sosua will never go there. It's not the same.
The majority of mongers coming to Sosua are coming for the wild west, anything goes, 'scene" of hundreds of chicas parading around in spandex and tacones all packed into a relatively short strectch of street lined with bars, discos, and restaurants.
That can't be found in any of those countries above nor duplicated anywhere else here in the DR, unless you want to consider Boca Chica.
I’ll bet they all have a plan B. I see them in the bars and resorts in a Playa Dorada, on the Malecon in POP, in Costambar, etc. They will go to where the can make a dollar and keep a lower profile. The police presence along Pedro Clisante will be reduced because they will lose a major source of bribes if the ladies leave.
The wild west can be found most anywhere. The thing Sosua has going for it is the beach and expat friends that you see everyday just because the town is so small.
A comfortable life in Colombia is possible on a $1,000 monthly budget. A single expatriate might budget the following monthly amounts: $270 for a one-bedroom apartment; $130 for utilities, Internet service and cellphone service; $200 for groceries; $50 for bus and taxi fares; and $100 for personal and household items.
I still don't really understand why to want to move a scene that is already there to another location to make room for a new scene that is supposed to be coming (family tourists). There is not anything there for those kind of tourists. It's all old decrepit crap. Wouldn't it be much easier to just skip step 1 and create a new location for the avalanche of family tourists?
They can then maybe also create something that is actually fit for family tourism. Behind the beach or something...

As long as family oriented resorts continue to exist in places like Cabarete, Playa Dorada, etc., Sosua will never be a family oriented resort town. The cleanup, if it happens, will benefit adult males who have no interest in family resorts. It may benefit property owners but that remains to be seen. The main impact to them has been the downturn in DR property values overall, not the problems on Pedro Clisante Street.
