It's interesting to see the main house/apartment of several well known Dominicans. Some appear more lavish than others, but I haven't seen one that I don't like. Many of these people are not originally from well-to-do or rich backgrounds, but through hardwork (no funky business, mostly in Dominican TV) they have managed to move up in the world. I think this should be promoted more, because I get the feeling msny young Dominicans in less than ideal situations got the impression the only way to make it in the DR is doing some not so good vices.

Luz García in the Polígono Central of Santo Domingo. She

Albert Mena in Santo Domingo near Avenida Luperón. He's from a rural area in the Cibao (Cenoví), but grew up in one of the toughest neighbornoods of SD (Cristo Rey). He himself his childhood and young adulthood was very hard coming from a tough background.

"Toxic Crow" and "La Insuperable's" house in SD. They are from poor backgrounds that reached success in the new Dominican hip hop/rap movement.

Octavio Dotel's apartment in SD near the Mirador del Sur Park. No need to mention what background he comes from, all I got to say he became a baseball player for the MLB in the USA.

There are a few more, but can't put everything in one post. lol

I bet every one of them used an interior decorator.

I knew one once who wanted to help me with my house but I was too stupid to look a gift horse in the mouth.

I could show you a photo of a wealthy family's weekend Sosua home, the family who sells the most ice cream in the Dominican Republic, and yet they won't 500 pesos a month to pay for garbage service - they just throw it over the wall down the hill onto someone else's empty property - looks like a land fill.

Money does not necessarily buy class/common sense/good manners. What a shame...

This one isn't their main house, rather a second home in Rancho Arriba (in the Central Mountains, great place to get away from the heat). They live in SD. Jhoel López (I think he's from SD) and Liz Blanco (from a not rich family in Nagua).

Look at that wood floor. That type of floor is actually very common in the USA, but very rare in the DR.

I always liked/enjoyed the homes of the "well known older money" crowd. Some of those homes have that older rich character with some amazing art pieces, etc...
I have a friend with an incredible house that is wall-to-wall art "on loan" from the National archives. His father was a well-known General and he was a personal escort for Balaguer.

The stories I could tell about that family.

We knew a General (ex) back in the day who lived in Arroyo Hondo, again this was way back then. The house was unbelievable. The woodwork, the patio garden, it was all stunning. But it was the beautiful artwork, ceramics, tile work, etc.. that made that house such a beauty. I remember the staircase, curved with beautiful marble work. It would be interesting to see the house now. Now a days some would say it was not "with the times/or current". I have seen some of the so called "popular well-known" properties", and they all seem the same. Glass, chrome, mirrors, strange colored lighting, white everything, etc...

Funny thing about that. There's no Dominican family without a lawyer or general in the tree
