Gigantic speed bumps are the only reason I don't have a sedan here in the DR. I drove a Mercedes 300 for years and absolutely loved it, especially for long trips (across Canada and the USA 4 times)
Most of them I can go over at 3-5mph, but some I do have to come to almost a complete stop.

My vehicle of choice if I had a vehicle would be an old jeep. Like the heavy duty steel army jeeps. When someone hits you nothing will happen to it. I always joke with people that it would need large cage with spikes surrounding it just to be safe.
"49 Willy's Overland Jeep Station Wagon. Yeah kinda long name. Took us awhile to restore. Stayed original on the rebuild. Rebuilt the little flat head 4-banger under the hood.

lol you'll have loads of fans on instagram showcasing your truck everywhere lol
Honestly this picture was my old avatar on this forum but I got sick of being called
names by guys like ______, _______ and ________ so I changed it to the white rabbit a few years ago.
It is fitting tho cos as a young kid growing up in Northeast Florida (pine trees, bass fishing and mudding)
several of my father's friends looked like the fella pictured, along with the truck he's driving.

My brother has one he did a nut and bolt restoration on close to 30 years ago. It's starting to look a little rough around the edges now.

Yes, Jimny's are the middle class Dominican dream now. Everyone got one. Especially young kids.

I'm not into that SUV especially how unstable is on highways.

In my personal choice, I selected SUVs but as a owner, prefer thoese with much robust and fuel economy ( Tucson (2007-2009), Highlander (2002-2005) CRV (2008-2010) for this country.

If the US and Europe aren't careful eventually it will be all Chinese cars.
We're in Northern Europe in Scandinavia currently, and when we got here, I was surprised to see all these Chinese (electric?) buses on the road, partially from brands I wasn't even aware of. Years ago, only local (Volvo, Scania, Mercedes, MAN etc.) were sourced due to their reliability. Chinese vehicles were unheard of. I really want to see how long do those last... My uncle used to be loyal to EU brands but due to cost cutting, now he drives a Kia as well. It looks nice but...

We will be sticking with German-manufactured Ford for now... We have already driven a Chinese-made EV SUV as it was economical to rent and I have no complaints, it was comfortable and my wife was almost nausea-free... It was an EV though, and I'm not a big fan of those on road trips...

Sure seems to be a lot of Jimny's for sale on FB and other classified sites.

I wanted to buy new tires for the car last week. (2022 Suzuki SUV). So we went to Price mart and we were told they did not have the size. The girl behind the counter went out and called one of the mechanics to verify, Nope we don't have. I said to my wife, ah, just call SD Motors (Which I at first didn't want to do) Nope. WTF. Tough to believe but true.

I found a place located in the capital, but on the other side, a longer drive. I found them when I searched "Good Year tires"). So, he has Dunlops at $145. each. I think we're going to go with them.

Probably it was Centro Jáquez on Av. 27 de Febrero

I have bought tires in Hylsa, Reid, CareMax and Centro Jaquez, can't say anything bad about any of these places. But if none of them have what you need, just go to Villa Juana and experience some ghetto style tire shopping, they have new tires there also, not only used ones.... and for much better prices than any of big companies. If you like shopping in the ghetto, of course ;)

Everything closes there after 5 PM anyway. It's better to go early in the morning, that way even if they don't have what you need, they can get if from somewhere else while you wait.

I remember that I could not find 35"x12" tires for 15" rims for my lifted Ford Bronco once, none of the big companies had them. So I went to Villa Juana, just stopped at some corner shop, a bunch of guys surrounded my truck with questions what am I looking for... I told them, they went to a few shops nearby, came back and said nobody have those tires there but they know somebody in Santiago who have them, so if I wait, they deliver them in 3 hours. I said OK, came back in 3 hours, got my brand new tires for half the price I would pay in Hylsa or any other big company.
