For me I love the "older" merengue and bachata songs. I have tapes which I turned into CD's from about 20 years ago. Listen to them all the time.

I don't like you anymore: I have that song stuck in my head now. :eek:gre:

I heard an interview with a psychologist once who did research on things persisting in our consciousness, such as getting a song "stuck" in our heads. He said for that situation, the thing to do was to HUM the tune "Girl From Ipanema". DON'T sing the words, or THAT song will get stuck. Seems it has something to do with the simplicity and repetition of the melody that redirects your attention. Give it a try! If it doesn't work, at least you've had a flashback to the '60's LOL

Stan Getz should never be a flashback. he should be a staple diet!

who this wench and why she sing so strange? (apart from the fact english does not seem to be her first language, of course)

that is the great Astrud Gilberto, formerly wife of the great Brazilian musician Joao Gilberto. she sang some bossa nova songs with Stan Getz in the mid to late 1960s.

why does she squeak like a mouse? her voice was so low and quiet i could hardly hear her. maybe i am more used to she shouting style of singing as presented by pop of today. in any case, i liked the song, i did not like the performance.

You've been here too long. You expect everything in 10,000+ decibels.

You're in our country. If you don't like it here, why do you come? We don't need you to change us. Don't you have an Ipod or mp3 player to play whatever you want? Go buy yourself some ear buds and enjoy yourself. Why foreigners think its their job to change us, I will never understand. Incre?ble, de verdad, incre?ble.

Oops!
A touch'd soul, and here on the hammerstone of DR1!

Not for the sensitive of disposition.
When you venture on to the battle fields of DR1, may your armour be strong and bright and may your mettle be steel'd for you are one against the throng...!

This forum is for us frail but sensitive gringo souls, and their like acolytes to go forth and slay the foes of our discontent and make great public our disfavour,- and may no enemy be granted grace or favour in our goodly pursuit.

Good lord old chap! We are not trying to change the unalterable, we just like to whinge about the stuff we can't handle.

This thread was about someone being utterly fed-up and bored with the musical offerings in most of the bars we frequent and not a slur on the whole community.

I think that many Dominicans enjoy our presence and offerings here, including my gorgeous half Dominican grand-kids but, por favor, do not take what you read here as being representative of anything but our Dr1 Avatar outpourings. It's just a release where we can babble on to our heart's content.

The Gorgon can be the perfect demonstration of our insincerity, but only here on the forum.

But,
Your music is 99% repetitious crap and your Hi Fi systems have the reproductive fidelity of a family from Deliverance...
