Today, 18 July 2006, mid-pm at a Santo Domingo casa de cambio, I received RD$32.25 for my USD check.

For a USA check; what's happening? The exchange rate seems to be moving in the wrong direction? Accepting my definition of "wrong", of course. It should be @ 37 - 38. What gives?

This morning, Saturday 05 August 2006, Santo Domingo casa de cambio gave me 32.50 for my US check.

They take US checks? how do they know they wont bounce or arent stolen?

I received RD$32.2 to $1 U.S. at Las Americas airport, 8/05/06:1:30 pm. It was a disappointment too. A couple days prior, the exchange was flirting with 33:1.
