Almost standard policy to arrest those who knew him and had access.
Rarely is a crime like this totally random, so someone usually knows something about who the perp might be.
When they say they were arrested, it's more like detained, while police investigate and question them.

US law parlance calls it "material witnesses".

Too Many "Dr1ers" With Too Much Time Too Kill !

This thread reminds me of the childs game of "Whisper"! One person starts a "story" by whispering it to the next person, and "so-on", until the last person in the line repeats what he heard. It NEVER ends the way it starts. It never ever resembles the way it started. And exactly what does "Nals" story about the guy in OHIO who shot his neighbor have to do with, "The price of tea in China?"
Oh! Now I remember,"Nals" lives in the US,and therefore it must be important to him!!:cheeky:

Of course this will be thrown into the general caterory of "more crime in the DR" but IF it is true (he brought them to his room) it is not out of the ordinary for something like this to happen. Is it? Or, only in the DR?

john
Actually, it is quite out of the ordinary, in the DR as elsewhere.

If it were commonplace this thread would not exist, for one thing. For another, if Gringo tourists who bring working girls back to their rooms were being bumped off left and right, the word would spread through those circles like wildfire and the practice would be severely curtailed if not eradicated. (Say, now there?s a thought?;))

To those of you who condem both the prostitutes, and their customers,I say,
Thats your right! But it must be very lonely Exercising your mule all the time!

Thanks....It was much easier to read and understand in Spanish.

I heard about the Loft incident while I was sitting in the US Embassy all day waiting for a new passport, but hadn't heard anything about the Boca Chica incident.

I checked the original article in Digital Key and "verdugo" is the culprit, in both senses of the word.

I also read the Loft article. Cause of death - stupidity.

And the beat goes on (I mean rather the rumours)!!!

I have been in touch with Michael Flecks' son Sascha, who lives in Cologne (Germany). A few days ago, Sascha was told that the girl his father frequently took to said hotel room at the Dominican Bay Hotel at Boca Chica had been his father's puta (when he happened to be in the country). Allegedly, the now pregnant girl and her Haitian husband and pimp tried to hold the "rich" gringo Michael Flecks accountable for her pregnancy. Thus, the trouble seemed to have started and finally obviously got out of control.

Folks, as I mentioned at the outset, this is only another rumour for the time being. So, I would ask you to handle it with care as always!

If that happens to be the way it went down, it's a heck of an awkward position for a tourist to find himself in.
There are no set rules as to how to diffuse the situation.
It's not as if the police would help, at least not under normal circumstances.
Maybe if you managed to pretend to want to take her outside to go somewhere, acting like all was well, and direct the concho to the cop shop, have a decent sum of money in your hand to hand to the first cop who looks like he's in charge, and explain to him that you would rather give him the money than to her (assuming she is scamming you), then once you get free of her, you get the heck out of town.
One thing for sure, staying calm and trying to act like you're going to "make good", gives you a better chance of avoiding trouble.

Those Of Us Who Have Lived Here For A Long Time,..........

..and have Dominican,"Street Smarts" have a much better chance of "Surviving" a confrontation with a Dominican.First, we avoid that confrontation! If it is "inevitable",we can "outsmart" the Dominican,if we are aware of how the Dominican "MIND",or lack there of,functions!
It is fairly easy to,"Get Over" on a Dominican, but not for the occasional tourist! They act timid. We come from societies where we don't want to cause a "scene",or "rock-the-boat"! You have to know when to "Make Nice" with a Dominican, and when to "Put them in their place"!
As head of securuty for 11 years at a large medical complex in Santo Domingo,I have seen, and heard, just about "EVERYTHING"! I can't tell you the number of times I have heard,"I know,"So-And-So",and this is the last day you will ever work in the DR !" That is the "mild" stuff! I had guns drawn on me several times! Over where the "Big $hit" Politico was going to park his,or HER car! Most Dominicans have an inferiority complex when it comes to White foreigners! You can use that to your advantage! I have had several traffic accidents. When, and if,they can catch up to me after the "accident",I just start yelling about having them arrested, and spending many years in "La Victoria" prison if they want to "mess" with me! Or I drive to a police station, and tell the police that the person ran into me,and now is "threatening" me! I give the polive person "in Charge",500 or 1000 pesos and tell them to "Work It Out" with the other guy! Then I leave!
The "Other" problem,is trying to have a "Relationship" with,as "AZB" would say, "UBHs"(Ugly Black Hos)! Just screw them as much as you want, but NEVER act,or think, like it is anything more than a business transaction!

I think part of the problem is the multitude of sketchy or weird gringos that make a home in the DR, or visit the DR frequently. By weird gringos I am talking about the ones you will see in Boca Chica, Puerto Plata, or Sosua - you know the ones that will be arrested the moment they set foot on their home country. I hardly saw a single gringo who lived in sosua that didn?t have a tatoo and a ?girlfriend? half their age. I am not saying that all ex-pats are these types, it?s just that they are the ones you?ll tend to see most, these people disgust me, and I?m sure they disgust the locals and cause resentment. What is a dead gringo? Just one less to screw our women! I?m not saying that this man deserved what he got, but I can see how crimes directed at foreigners at times are easier to commit, not because they are resented for their wealth, but resented for what they do. My 2 cents.

re: UBH. What does black have anything to do with it? And why would you want to mess with an ugly ho in the first place???

Dear "Uraguayo" Phuck You AND Thje Horse You Rode In On!!!"

I happen to be a "Gringo",60 years old, have lots of Tatoos, walk around with beautiful, sexy, young,Dominican "Hos" in their "teens", EVERY chance I get!
Lots of them are "Black"! Didn't you know that:,"The DARKER The BERRY,the sweeter the juice!"?????
"Blaming the Victim", is NOT a good option! Thats what people like you do to vitimes of rape!....." She should not have been in a bar at 2 am!",........"She was dressed like she "Wanted It!", "She was "asking" for it dancing in that sexy way!"
Your "disclamer" bears no weight!
You may not be able to have sex,but that does not mean that others can't!
As far a Dominicans being "Upset" because "Gringos" are screwing their, mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters,"Forgedabowdit!"
They enjoy the "Fruits" of their "Women's Labors" too much to "Bite The "GLAND" That Feeds Them,"!!!! We "Disgust" only the "Tight A$$" "I'm Better Than You!" Pricks like you!
Why do you think we are here in the first place?

I don't have any tatoos either, and don't think I know anyone here who does, although they may have hidden ones, but if I can't see them, nobody else can, except maybe in the privacy of their bedrooms.
I wonder where anyone got this idea.
