Did this actually happen to you, or is it supposition?? Are some airports worse than others in the US?

I've been traveling to DR since 1975, and I've NEVER had anyone even LOOK at any pills I've had with me.

Do they just look for a prescription bottle? I mean, couldn't you just fill up an empty prescription bottle with almost anything? I've noticed that my mail-order 90 day prescription bottles sometimes do say "this pill is a small round pink pill with the number 76 engraved on them" or some such thing.

To be honest, I'm still surprised that they noticed Rush Limbagh's bottle had someone else's name on it. Can't help but wonder if the officer just hated the guy and looked for anything he could find just to be spiteful. I can't imagine them doing that for every traveler!

AE,

The only time I ever flew to the US from the DR via Miami, the Customs agent asked me about medications and what I was carrying. Maybe it was because I use a wheelchair in airports because I can't walk the distances between gates, I don't know.

As it happens, he didn't look at anything once I said that the only meds I had with me had been prescribed by US doctors and filled in a pharmacy in the US.

dc - CCCCCCC's jokes help break up the monotony at times - and if you stay a member long enough, you learn to understand his humor (and even appreciate it) - and you can also read through and see the good advice he has many, many times!

Why risk it?

In the last year I've gone back and forth to US a lot...... US officials want to see a prescription...simple......
If you have drugs (that are supposed to have a prescription in the US) and no "doctor's note" they treat it as if you are a smuggler. For a few viagra, you get all the questions and searches, etc. that the protocol calls for....they may or may not cite or arrest you...but they will use up many hours of your time, causing you to feel like you are a bad person with some other kind of agenda. They have to make sure you are not a national security risk and will find a way to put you on some kind of list you do not want to be on..... then they will take your Viagra, say you are free to go and don't you ever do that again....
In the mean time you have missed your flight and have to pay for a room in Miami overnight and a $$$ penalty for missing your flight and re-booking charge from the airlines.....it is all part of the system they have set up for the "little guys" (the normal traveler who wouldn't even think of hiding something as innocent as viagra) that make this kind of mistake....they will take a lot of your time and money to make sure you do not forget.
But, it's up to you......
Depends on how much of a risk taker you are

Great example of what could happen. Is it likely to happen? Probably not. But why take the chance.

IMHO, it's kinda like when you file your income tax return. The chance of an audit is small, but if you ARE audited, you better have ALL your receipts in order - if you don't , at the minimum your in for a frustrating, time consuming hassle. Worse case, your going to jail!

So why risk it? (But if you do, be prepared to accept the consequences in the event that you are checked.)

I have four young children here in Santo Domingo.
We NEED the money I earn as a "Moderator" on DR1 to support them.
If I am "removed" we will be homeless.

Besides, if you are not just a DR1er ! "Sock Puppet", without the "BALLS" to use your "Real" DR1 "name, then after reading DR1 for "Years" you should have found many important threads to join in as a "First Time Poster"!
Have a "Great Day".
If you are bored, you might try and "Get-A-Life"!
They're really fun.

The TV ads for "Viagra" warn to, "Seek medical treatment for an erection lasting more than 4 hours"!
I would seek WOMEN, not go to an "ER"!
You DO have to "Watch Your Step" after taking "Viagra".
I once tripped, and pole vaulted across the street!
It can also be hard to sleep after taking "Viagra", sometimes there is not enough skin left to close your eyes, and then your "Boner" keeps poking you in your chin all night Loooooooooooooooooooong!:sleep::sleep:
I Hate when THAT happens!
