This might have been asked but what it the cost for a Uber taxi in The capital
It showed on my phone as average rate 70 pesos. Not sure what that's based on. I might try it out later today and will report how much I was charged.

Overnight update. I believe Uber is here......................
The Uber app now shows my location plus above the location pin it says "No cars available". How can that be a good sign? It is the first day the app worked and it is 5 AM.
My guess-ta-mation, give Uber time to get the drivers signed up. Let the drivers get their friends to start driving and next year Uber will be a common household name in SD centro.

Did a rate estimate from Agora, where I am now to Las Praderas / Restauradores: 102-123 pesos. Average cab will charge 180 to 200 pesos for that ride.

There are actually a bunch of available cars, but it seems to depend on where you point your pickup location to. If the ride is longer than 6 minutes for the driver to get to you, it will show NO CARS AVAILABLE.
Cars conglomerate around Lincoln and Churchill though.
They just gave me a estimate of 101 Pesos from Bellas Artes to Bella Vista.
At those rates I think I will give the driver a small tip and still be ahead of the game.
Tipping is not permitted. Of course, rules are made to be broken in Santo Domingo.
LOL, well I will just let it fall out of my pocket.![]()
That would be 150 to 200 with Apolo et al. Some of the companies have a minimuml Uber also quotes a minimum in at least some markets. I am curious about what the uber minimum.
The 70 pesos I mentioned before was not the average but the minimum .
Wow! That is HIGHLY competitive with the taxis. I'm pretty sure their minimums are in the 100 to 120 peso range.
Well, let's try this. Requested a ride from my home to EPS in Bella Vista. Should be around 100 pesos. On the picture the guy looks like the average taxi driver and the car is a Honda Civic.......let's see if it's an Apolo taxi driver who also hooked up with uber.
thats right.
and a average Gringo looking customer would not get a ride for less than 150-200.- pesos as their "minimum Gringo fare", lol.
Mauricio,
pay attention if that Honda Civic is really a "newer" car, haha.
keep it rolling, guys.
i am very interested in observing that to roll on and how it develops.
bring it on in punta cana next.
