Yesterday in Cabarete, whilst Banco Popular was offering 37.3, Luis Martes gave 37.65 even on small amounts.

At Cambio Rusa on Doce de Julio in Puerto Plata. However, just a warning for those who write checks there, they have changed their requirements. For the first time under the new regs, it is better to wait to write the check until you get there and they explain how to comply. They'll still cash the check, but the payee name has changed, AGAIN.

The last time I exchanged in Cabrera... I got a good rate for the US $ but when I tried the CDN$ (which I knew was a bit higher than the US at the time), I got less.... couldn't understand

Is this normal?

What about Euro now at "casas de cambio"?
In Banco Popular website it is now 54.60, so I guess that in a "casa de cambio" at least will be 55. Hope so! ;)

July 4th........ I just wired US$$ to my RD ScotiaBank account......
Sorry to say the exchange rate figures to 37.6.....:disappoin

I was expecting higher.

Wire comes in as US$$ into a DRP account and is converted automatically.

C'est la vie.... banks, waht are you going to do ??:dead:
