Vaccination campaign open now only to second doses

The Health Cabinet said that the government is now giving priority to persons who require a second dose. The government is awaiting shipments of more Covid-19 vaccines, including the first batches of Pfizer and others part of the Covax Facility of the World Health Organization.

Vice President Raquel Peña says that as of 9 June, 5,656,548 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered. Of these 95% are Chinese-made Sinovac/Coronavac or Sinopharm vaccines.

“We have achieved a lot so far, we were able to complete in record time the administration of first doses scheduled for the first 11 batches of vaccines, taking the inoculation to the entire Dominican population over 18 years of age and reserving the necessary doses for the application of the second one,” explained the Vice President who heads the health cabinet of the Abinader administration.

Excellent. So you can be sacked without notice pay if you haven't had the vaccine, and we are shutting all the bars at 3pm until everyone has had the vaccine, but "oh what a shock" we don't have enough vaccines to go round, so if you haven't had the vaccine yet and want to get it, you can't. Mi amor. So all those people who were reluctant to get the vaccine, who finally decide to do so, won't be able to get it anyway.

Honestly you couldn't make this stuff up.

Obviously they can't get the first shot until the next batch arrives. The second shot of every 2-shot vaccine is stronger than the first one, because it has more.

Hmmm, yesterday I received my first shot and no issues. Arrived about 11am thinking there would be a big queue but actually there were more stewards there than people wanting vaccine. I was in and out in under 30 minutes.

No, it is if you won't get it, which quite a bit different that not having got it yet.
