I want to bring my girlfriend up to visit the states. How would she go about getting a visa and passport? She is a dominicana student at the university in san pedro. I know this is just a general question but i really don't know where else to start. thank you in advance. T

I would write to Nigeria and see about the millions they left there for you..

The UCE is not what you could call a prestigious university (it is a money maker!!).

The requirements for a non-immigrant visa are really tough.

What guarantee would she be able to offer that would tell the visa consul that she WOULD return? Surely she has family in the States?

Nope, you are better off tring to get Icahn or Buffet to lend you a couple of million to start you own peanut butter factory or rap music company...

Sorry, but that's how it is..

not a chance

Forget it, they will turn you down flat, make you wait for hours, refuse to give you a reason for the denial, refuse to tell you how in the future you might get a non-immigrant visa and finally they will charge you about $160.00 US for you get an interview appointment. The entire process is an insult. It appears that since the US is totally unable to stop illegal immigration they have turned their full efforts into designing a process that will stop legal immigrants. Participating in this process will give you a clear understanding of one of the many reasons the US is so disliked. I am an American and could not get my wife of two plus years a two week vacation visa.

My wife's cousin Pedro was denied a tourist Visa, so 2 years later his daughters got visa's to come to Canada for ESL School for 6 weeks(Sponsered by my wife and I). They returned and so Pedro reapplied along with daughter #2 age sixteen. They got 10 year VISA for him 5 years for her. They both went to the USA last year, him twice for 4 weeks each time and her for 3 weeks in the summer. They applied for the rest of the family this spring - wife, son age 15, daughter age 18, daughter age 8. All the children got 5 year Visa and his wife a 10 Visa. They are middle income, have some money in the bank, and own a house and business. So yes Dominicans can and do get Visa, but they went through the right steps, and all the proper conditions in place, told no lies, and had some luck.

The difficult part is to convince immigration that she has strong enough ties to return to the DR when the visa expires.

Student visa;
