Does CMC in Sosua do PCR test ?
That is where I will be going to get it done. I'll let people know how it works out. I leave a few days after the Testing is required. My friend just went to Germany through many Countries and used the PCR and other tests from CMC and it worked. I won't bother with the other tests as Canada only wants the PCR negative one. There may also be a place in Cabarete that does it I will go tomorrow to ask if they don't get back to me by email so others know.

still next to nothing to people that can afford to travel. My insurance covers it.
My insurance (Canadian) flat out says in their policy that anything Covid related is NOT covered. This policy was issued in October.

My insurance is Dominican insurance. I haven't checked if my DVA insurance would pay. They surprised me with what they dont pay and then they surprise me again with what they pay. Don't you have local insurance?

I figure by January 10th this idiotic idea will be shelved. It just can't work. The Canadian gov is putting their traveling citizens at a bigger risk of catching covid by sending them to unsterilized sites in unknown areas. It's just plain stupid.

No. We buy our travel insurance in Canada. It covers everything except covid.

That is the main reason I am not too happy about it, we are going home to Canada mainly to get help for long term COVID issues so going to a hospital here when I have avoided people and doing things for a long time to get this done I am not so happy about but what can you do, I want to get home so I will do it! I do agree there has to be testing at some point for travellers but it just seems poorly dealt with.

Transport Minister Marc Garneau said today....

"One is, if they haven't got the test result and there are clinics available, they will have to reschedule their departure because they won't be allowed on board," he said. "If, on the other hand, they can demonstrate ... that there was no facility, then they can be admitted onboard."

Travellers who can prove that they were unable to get a test abroad will have to quarantine for 14 days at a federally-approved facility upon their arrival.

This sound like “politicians” reacting to a half-cooked idea.
hmm how do you prove there isn't a place available??? Go around to place to place and get statements??

Canadian airlines give you free covid insurance!!!
Only on a maximum 14 day trip. I got back here in mid October so I am not covered by Air Canada's marketing ploy.
We still have not booked return flights. Will look at that in March or April depending on the level of hysteria in Canada in the spring.

That is true but West Jet is a very unreliable carrier. They have cancelled more flights than I can count. We are still waiting for a credit from them for a flight they cancelled last March.
I will not use them again unless AC goes out of business.
