That is true but West Jet is a very unreliable carrier. They have cancelled more flights than I can count. We are still waiting for a credit from them for a flight they cancelled last March.
I will not use them again unless AC goes out of business.
Extenuating circumstances plus it was well known they weren’t flying until December...no booking you can’t fly with 2 people on board..flying with them 7 yrs into POP with my dogs best pet airline IMHO ..all airlines were playing cancel game A/C being one also..

Two things.....

If WestJet charged you a $100 for cancelling a flight..... call them.... the should/might credit you that money back.

WestJet cancelled ALL it's flight to Cuba for the whole winter, and has had either NO or ONE flight a week from Toronto to POP.... yet is offering a flight for every day, for ALL of February!

Sounds like it.
Nothing surprises me anymore in the Brave New Communist World of Chinada.
Why even bother to go back to canaduh, for those who can avoid it. Its turned into a complete communist shi*thole. Total left-wing propaganda pushing puppet regime. Its just the liberals/democrats pushing this batflu BS total nonsense. However, come Jan 7th, these commies and their crimes will face prosecution. And the unicorn virus will suddenly all be gone away. Watch and understand. All the best to those who fight for their freedom.

Goodluck let us know....especially if it’s in French or English results...if only Spanish another thing to worry about..
I'm just going to give them what CMC prints out, it's obvious even if you can't read Spanish that it's a negative result from a PCR COVID 19 test from what my friend sent me. The people that matter to begin with are the airport check in people who will be Dominican and once I land I'm there and not leaving :). I don't think it will be anything to worry about. It worked in all other non Spanish speaking Countries that my friend needed it for so I think they just want to see something that says negative but 100% it has to be a PCR test, I would not be trying with just an antibody one that's for sure.

I guess I could ask if CMC could do an English report as well but I don't really want to complicate it. I'll get back to you lol

We didn't cancel they did. Tried for almost a week to contact them but their phone system must have caught covid as they would not answer. We booked with AC and got a flight 4 days later.

My wife finally got to talk to a actual Westjet employee in June. They agreed to about a $1000 credit. In Sept we tried to book with them and as we all know that flight was cancelled. After another round of trying to get through to these idiots they finally agreed to a refund not a credit. Still waiting

Those 2 weeks in isolation in Canada will be at the travelers expenses. From what I read on a TVA Nouvelles article. Just like in Australia.
When I enquired about this last spring and stated that I do not have a place to Isolate Health Canada stated that I would be offered a place to Isolate by Federal Gov. No TV, or any sort of convenience other than mals delivered , even diabetic meals, place to stay such as hotel room. Not guaranteed wifi system. All at Government expense.

Quarantine has been in effect over 9 months nothing new... new requirement for negative test is good thing it should be all countries require it Dominican included...
I agree, however that being the case each Governing Body should provide facilities for such tests to take place in a timely fashion. As well, there should be preparations made for those whom test positive. The homework must be done and leave nothing to chance and ambiguous consultation.

I just found all the medical receipts from Bournigal Medical Center in POP. The one concerning the COVID Test states in Spanish:
"Unidad Serologia
Antigeno COVID 19 ..................................................... Negativo
It also provides all the personal information about me and states my Doctors name.

It was a nose swab , but does not state the initials PCR ..... Antigeno COVID 19

Now the Immigration Officer going out and in Canada as well as Airline have to know exactly what this test means.
Just saying!
Another variable to conquer at departure.
Assume nothing!

Imagine, Saturday a week from now...

WestJet WS 2507 is departing from POP at 3:25pm with 175 passengers.

That mean 175 people have got a Covid PCR test done on Thursday or Friday... and got the results in paper form.

What if 2 or 3, Airplanes are leaving over the weekend, to fly back to Canada.

Can the Puerto Plata/Sosua test an extra 300 to 500 people in 2 days?

Punta Cana has 5 flights today..... Can they test 800-1000 people a day?

Canadians will now have two options when returning to Canada from abroad ; get tested in destination and if there is a lack of facilities available, mandatory quarantine in a government-run facility upon return.
In an interview with CBC News just before 5:00pm ET on New Year’s Eve, Garneau explained the new rules requiring that, effective January 7, 2021, at 12:01 a.m. EST, all air passengers five years of age or older will be required to test negative for COVID-19 before travelling from another country to Canada. This implementation date provides all airlines, both foreign and domestic, adequate time to comply with the new requirements.
The news is sure to cause harsh criticism in the industry, where he added he feels “airlines will understand the measures.

That was from CMC correct? I can see it now. CMC getting swamped and running out of tests or getting backlogged to the point of not being able to provide the results in time for people to catch their flight. I'd say make sure you get a receipt when you pay for the test. Unfortunately CMC's website has not been able to provide lab results for many months now. They will probably run out of printer ink now too.

Ya lol I thought the same :). I will be getting the print out from them and doing it closest to the 72 hours as possible.

What Garneau is saying about mandatory isolation facility requirement is not new or related to the new PCR Covid test requirement. The optional government and provincial isolation facilities were developed to handle the potentially infected people on repatriation flights and cruise ships as far back as last April.

If you arrive and don’t have a confirmed negative Covid test, you are obligated to present the Canada Border Services officer with a viable self isolation plan at your final arrival point. If you can’t, they will provide a facility for you at your initial arrival point in Canada. Otherwise all the government/provincial run facilities will be swamped in no time.

The Covid PCR test requirement for Canadians returning to Canada from abroad is going to die a quick bureaucratic death unless the Federal government is willing to provide the service for passengers at Canadian airports. The root cause of this current madness is the Federal government caving in to Quebec demands to require international passengers to test prior to their arrival in Canada. Quebec is one of the worst Covid infection and death provinces in Canada because of the way they managed their response.

We could be facing a Spring federal election. The rest of Canada is going to push hard against this new requirement and so it should. The Alberta pilot project appears to be working well. You get tested when you arrive. If negative, you isolate for 7 days and get tested again. If negative, you are free to go.
