Hi all Im back and very tired

First of all I had an absolutely fantastic time and the resort was wonderful. i loved it

Weddings

You meet sarah (wedding coordinator) who goes through everthing with you
You choose the colour of your flowes and balloons for gazebo and horse and carriage.

There is no choice of wedding location gazebo and thats it. I was gutted before i left that I couldnt get married on the beach as that was the reason I booked HVGB but I was not dissappointed at all it was lovely.

For the flowers you get 2 big bouquets for gazebo in you chosen colour plus a table display. You also get free brde bouquet and grooms buttonhole in a colour of you choice. Anything else you have to pay extra for but was reasonably prices. I ordered 3 bridesmaids bouquets and 1 single rose for flower girl and 18 button holes which were lovely and cost 82 dollars arounf 45 pound.

Myself and bridesmaids had there hairs done at the salon and I have to say they did a really good job. When we went to visit them we told them what we were hoping for and she had a quick ,ess with our hairs and said that we didnt need the full trail so haitr only cost us $50 eeach. I had all mine tied up with curls on top and bridesmaids had theres down in curls they looked gorgeous.

The wedding cake was lovely.

The photographer was fantastic although I was ill with a vry bad eye so couldnt open both my eyes on wedding day and day after and he did his best to get good pics with me keeping my eyes closed and then opening quickly for photos.

For 40 photos in an albumn (5x7) and a disc of all photos it was $280. I didnt purchase all of them and just chose 14 free ones.

With the hurricane in florida we got a massive storm just after we got married so we all had to get dressed aagin the day after for the photos which was extremely hot although cloudy.

When I asked about ironing the wedding dresses and bridesmaids dresses the reps advised against it so we ironed then ourselves. So i am sorry but I dont know the price of this.

Noone mentioned a dvd to us so we didnt get one but when I was picking my photos up someone was watching one in the shop so maybe youhave to ask them to do one.

They do the gazebo up with a heart of flowers (lovely) in yuor clour scheme along with the flowers and cake. It is very very nice.

The ceremony lasts for no longer than 5 mins alll you have to say is I do. You dont even do the full thing with the rings etc.

The actual HVGB I thought was fantastic. I ablsoloutely loved it. Weather was a bit hit and miss. Absolutely no problem with rooms we had 8 rooms and they were all fantastic and cleaned daily. No problems with the HVGB.

Some of the guests were unlucky to get a travellers tummy but was not too bad and ot lasting longer than 24 hours. lol. Didnt stop then drinking no end so cant have been that much of a problem lol

well if you have any questions please feel free to ask

Congrats Kelly - so you are now Mrs ????? you will have to let us know your new surname. I'm so glad you had a great wedding an that you found the HVGB so good as I know you were getting worried near the end and was comtemplating moving to another hotel. I would love to see some pics when you have a change especially of your hair as that's how I'd like mine done so would be good to see what they did at the salon.

I put all my wedding things including dress in one suitcase.

I had my wedding reception at the lotus which is oriental it was fantastic what a lovely setting. The italian was also fantastic with a nice setting. Also there was something to eat for everyone in the italian as there was all the pastas etc plus for main course there was steak and mash and things it was lovely. Unlucky for us the day of our wedding it was closed.

The mexican is open air which looks like the buffet and is not a very good wedding reception setting. The carribean is adult only so no good if you have kids there. We had our candlelit dinner there on the beach and The food was not too my liking. we made our excuses and left.

I did not take my digital camera on holiday just loads of single use. I have sent them off today for processing and have asked for them on a disc as well so when they come back i will be sure to share my pics with you.

For my hen night I just had a night at blackpool. Nothing exciting

Wedding Questions

Hi All...

I'm going to Holiday Village in July 2 get married, We'll be there from 15th - 29th.There are 6 of us in total, Me & Hubby2Be (Obviously, lol) , Big Sis, her hubby and there two children.

There are a few questions I have that I am hoping somebody maybe able to help!

Firstly, We have just realised that my sister cannot be my witness, and as we are the only ones going, I'm not sure what to do?? Any Suggestions - Greatly Appreciated.. Who knows if your there the same time maybe you can help out :cheeky:

Secondly, I know there have been a few weddings out there from the girls who probably started this forum and i was wondering who did the translating and legalising of your paperwork, the quotes i'm getting are ranging ?700-?1000.

Cheers

Lea

p.s. Thanks to kelly for posting her pics on myphotoalbum.com, you all looked really amazing and cannot wait to go now!!!!!!

Drop me a PM or e-Mail Lee, I might be able to help in certain sections of your plea. Where did Hubby2be originally hail from? Not one of the Warwickshire Bush family I trust? I was in UK last week for a BUSH/Griffiths (from BRISTOL!!!!) wedding ...... this could get a bit interesting if your 'Old Man2be' is in some way related!! ~ Grahame.

Paperwork

Hi MrsBush2be and Vic, Kelly has been helping me with finding out about how to do the paperwork, she told me to contact the Spanish translation burea tel: 0207 3409509. they will do everything for you.

I have 5 documents and they have said if i send them everything they will do it all, sending it to the embassy and the foreign office, get it all translated and legalised and send it all back to me for ?817. she was really helpfull. so id suggest giving them a ring. i start doing my paperwork about 27th june so will be ringing them again to go over it all again to make sure.

Did any of you get told that if theres over 6 guests that you would have to pay $20 per person for the reception meal, as Kelly just told me you dont pay anything. the ceremonys are usually about 3pm and they put a buffet and drinks on by the gazebo thingy, then do photos then you go to the restaurant of your choice about 6:30 but the restaurant isnt all to yourselves, there will be other people in there. its saving us over ?100 so well pleased. he he.

Hi Chris,

I was told when i booked the wedding that up to 6 were included but as we are all at the same resort and its all inclusive, i didnt anticipate any problems!!! I spoke to the Spanish Bureau and they have agreed to do my paperwork for ?671 - I only have 4 docs to be processed, so bit better than last quotes... Can't really leave it any longer otherwise there will be no wedding - YIKES and I cant be having that... It took me 7 years to get him to propose in the first place... lol :cheeky:

Please Girls, before you commit yourselves to all this expense for translations, check what is ACTUALLY needed here. Much of the 'Documentation' you seem to be talking about just is not necessary in the Puerto Plata area!!

PM or e-mail me & I'll put you in touch with the guy that organises all the (Official) Sworn Statements for Brit's over here! When I spoke to him some 16 minutes ago he quoted MUCH lower prices & you can organise most of the paperwork in advance through his e-mail address or fax! ~ Grahame.
