My friend flew Saturday.....
SDQ-JFK-LHR

Friday he flies to Paris.... stays overnite and goes to his final destination

It seems it can be done..
I mentioned earlier-- watch that USA connection
He's married to an American - hence had entry permission
=================================================

1 week later.... he has arrived home in Greece

None of the his transit countries asked about his health....
Not USA, UK, France.......

Upon arrival in Athens, he was tested... temperature and Covid test
Even after testing negative, they put him on a bus to go for quarantine.....

Greece seems determined !!

As far as those speculating/wishing/dreaming/ fantasizing/____________ (fill in your choice of lingo) in terms of when RD will be open for international travel, keep in mind that that the health officials here do not see "the curve" reaching it's apex until late May or early June at the earliest. This was mentioned within the "Statistic analysis of COVID-19 in the Dominican Republic" thread line yesterday.
You may carry on with your conjectures.

Economies can be rebuilt. You'll never be able to bring back grandma. Keep businesses closed until the infections are on the downward curve.

OK then let's keep every business and job closed until the last person in the world dies from Covid19 (sure Covid 20 will be here long before then, then we extend quarantine again) - Of course their will be no world left because there will be no food, no fuel no nothing. Grandma will be one of the first to die under than scenario because she's one of the weakest, but maybe she has a small garden that can support her, if she could buy seeds, but it seems those can be found either.

Maybe the Eskimos in the 18th century had it right when they put the critically sick and weak elderly out on ice floes to pass their final days ? Yeah as cruel as that sounds at some point the world must produce and provide work for the poorest or soon it won't recover and Covid 19 will seem like it wasn't that bad compared to a world gone mad.
And I am speaking as someone who has a decent & steady income stream without working any longer but I still realize what will happen if the daily workers aren't given a chance to recover real soon.

Major economies have only been shut down since the beginning of March. Some a little later, some a little earlier. What's the rush? We don't need to kill off grandma because of a food shortage, or the poor being destitute in the streets. All govts are helping their citizens. Sure not many buying new iphones these days but that's because there aren't any new iphones to buy.

The economies aren't completely tanked yet. The businesses that feel they have to open now or close forever are the ones that weren't making enough money to sock any away for a rainy day. Like families, businesses that exist hand to mouth month after month aren't very profitable to begin with.

The economy will bounce back when the time is right and we don't need to be killing off our staff and customers by reopening too soon. Even here in the DR most people get some money from the govt. How many calories do you need to sit in a chair from 6am to 5pm and then lie in bed from 8pm to 6am? Stay at home, conserve calories, enjoy the time with family, rest, there will be time enough for working and hustling in due course. What's the rush, except by the money grubbers and those businesses that really should probably have closed awhile ago while they still had two pesos to rub together?

"We" are a long way from economic collapse. The politicians, venture capitalists finacially strapped are the only one's saying the end is nigh. Landlords in forward thinking countries are going to be able to carry their loses over to the next tax year and maybe beyond that. Lots of jobs to be had when we do go back to work and I would like that many may actually end up with a better job than they had before if they do things right.

Save the people, business can wait a bit longer. Business has no soul and no conscience.

Well, a couple comments: The "aluminum tube" theory I think is flawed. The airlines have taken precautions, ie; spacing, sanitizing, HEPA filters, and BTW I haven't read any data that says IF you fly you die. One that was posted here last week stated he thought his friend got the virus on a flight back to Canada.. And as far as hair and nails. They will do it at home just like from the days of Cleopatra. Clothes are being ordered on line since the age of computers.
There will never be a return to the "old" but I think there will be a return to "back in the day...my mother always..."
Some airlines don't seem to agree with spacing on planes. The ever vocal boss of Ryanair, for example: https://www.bbc.com/news/business-52394433

How can i take you seriously when you go way out to looney right field like this?
Like seriously how?
How is waiting for the downward curve equivalent to the last person in the world dying?
There is so much fuel they have no where to store it, so much food, that its rotting; I literally have no idea what youre talking about.
But...you cant replace grandma. Maybe you dont have loved ones but most of us do.

We are already in the downward curve, so at what point do you say back to work ??
You obviously are not a worker who lost his salary, nor a small business owner who shuttered his only means of income.

Hope your loved ones live through this, but I hope mine and my friends (several with businesses) can pay their mortgages, buy food, food, fix their cars, pay for insurances and electricity and water. That my friend is also part of surviving. Not everyone has the luxury of sitting this out till "whenever" on a sofa with Netflix until you or some other safety guru is satisfied with some curve. If fact the majority can't.

Who is on the downward curve? You just cant speculate and pretend it is facts. Businesses may or may not fail but there are bailouts and subsidies for them. There is no bailout for death. Get real no one is starving right now or in the near future. Mortgages are being delayed. Trump just passed a huge stimulus package for small businesses. Again let use facts here.

If the nacional emergencia is extended 25 days then we are looking at border being opened at the earliest in June. Maybe July more likely.

What downward curve? I hope you don't mean the contagion curve.

Major economies have ONLY??? been shut down since early March? Whats the rush?? What world do you live in? The world economy will collapse if it is not opened soon. So Govts just giving money and food to their citizens is a good thing?? Govts dont produce, they take taxes, thats how they exist, nobody is working and no taxws coming in. So just print money? What do you do when we have money that is worthless and we have runaway inflation like Venezuela??

The economies aren't completely tanked yet. The businesses that feel they have to open now or close forever are the ones that weren't making enough money to sock any away for a rainy day. Like families, businesses that exist hand to mouth month after month aren't very profitable to begin with.

Please do tell me how an avg small business owner pays his rent on his business location for 2-3 months or more, How does this business owner pay his taxes? How does he pay his workers? Or are they just let go? How does that same business owner pay his mortgage and taxes and other expenses on his personal property? What about the employees?? Where is their rent money, car payments or food come from? Where are these millions of people with money socked away, not for a rainy day, but for months and months of rain??? Please do tell

We" are a long way from economic collapse. The politicians, venture capitalists finacially strapped are the only one's saying the end is nigh. Long way from economic collapse????? tens of millions are unemployed and getting little if any relief. How are people to carry their losses over to the next tax year??? When they are hurting right now? Must be really nice to be as well off as you seem to be, But you my friend are not living in the real world if you think this will all be fine. Things will be messed up for years if we opened up today, forget about in a few more months.

Save the people, business can wait a bit longer. Business has no soul and no conscience.

How many people will die of starvation with the economies shut down?? 9.1 million die on avg every year now, Imagine that number will increase in next few years with economies faltering and people who used to give to charity no longer can. Business is not the enemy,

Sounds like you've got this all sorted out!

Any advice for me? I work as a contractor in the aviation industry. As a contractor I receive no govt assistance, no welfare and no opportunity to work for the foreseeable future.

If I'm careful I'll last five, maybe six months on my savings, then myself, my wife and kids will start going hungry and I will most likely get into debt.

I've been offered work, but it's in Europe and have no way of getting there.

Can I borrow your rose tinted glasses please?
