Others are looking for more space, better weather and a pool to entertain the kiddos while trying to get some work done without having to sell a kidney to pay for it

On a side note, don't think I ever blocked so many people on Whatsapp than during quarantine, lol

The Fania All Star and El Gran Combo songs await your arrival. 🌴 🕺💃🍷🍷🌴

Delta says some flights could start in June
(Hey, JetBlue! Let’s go!)

I guess you missed the President's speech last night? There will be no air land or sea borders open.

Would be interesting to establish if there are still the ferry flights flying in and out and if apart from Dominican citizens also permanent residents can enter the country and as mentioned earlier in the thread foreigners married to a Dominican citizen. It does not apply to me as fortunately I stayed and I am a permanent resident but could be important for others the next 3-4 months.

The US Embassy Santo Domingo sent me a email on May 18, 2020 that said (among other things) Flights to the United States of America are available through JetBlue and United Airlines. They said to check directly with named airlines regarding the booking of flights.

Only for legal US residents and spouses of same..... not the general public

That should be clarified...........

I was talking about the DR. And ferry flights can be to Europe to. There has been some although just a few. And to Canada but most ferry flights are between the US and the DR.

As I mentioned earlier, we came as snowbirds in Dec & didn't leave before they cancelled all the flights. Don't want to take a "ferry" flight to New York. Right now I'm seeing American has flights to other places (Chicago) starting in early June. Just wondering what our chances are of those actually happening.
its just tentative dates, you have to wait and bserve progress to find ot hwat finally will be the case.

Canada has 2 ferry flights...... last was 10 days ago - they might be done

US continues - JetBlue (JFK).... UAL has announced only 2 flights to EWR... just 2

All sorts of Euros beefing about no flights for them......

Slim Pickens - for flights - not the rodeo star (no relation to T. Boone)

it does matter zero, if someone wanna come into the DR for a simpe real relaxing vacay, or to pop some decades younger chis, or to pop any chic as none could be found online at home, or to come back to a place where he/she has family living since loooon.
it all Depends Solely on how the first and the 2nd etc phases of deescalation of the actual restrictions of daily private and bussiness life progress.
hence today, nobody could tell when really a phase 3 or let alone the final phase 4 will start.
while of course important to the individual,
honestly it is not important to anybody if a snowbird is stuck here for some more weeks or months or if a foreigner in deer need of a vacay can have that vacy in 2 months from now or at years end or not befor christmas 2021, none of that individual shit is any primary/any point when setting such time line.
this wednesday may 20th(in reaality TODAY, here in Veron/PC, you can enter EVERY ferreteria or furnichure shop and do shopping, personal live TODAYS observation) all the mentioned businesses will be leglly open again, people will be out on the streets in Masses, with or without facemasks.
the next date set is June 3rd for Phase 2, but TENTATIVE as a date, NOT set as something fixed, because its start of phase 2 depends on the results of Phase 1.
any further dates, like for phase 3 or 4, like opening borders early JUly etc etc etc, areat this moment just TENTATIVE dates depending on progress of the prior weeks/phases.
i am personally pretty sure that by midJune the hotels wil have their permission tooperate,
but i have still huuuge doubts that by JUly 1st the borders will be open to allow those hotels to operate with intl visitors/Tourists.
i really hope that it ill work out this ay, but lets be honest and realistic,
that would be a very very very earliest and a;; perfect running date.
it sure will be pushed due the July 5th 1st elections date,
but those could also be run easy and without extra bother under a state of emergency and without intl tourism opening the borders for tourist travelers.
even that the prior opening would of course be a sweet advance for the reigning parties in case of the election, lol.
we hve to wait and observe how it goesweek by week.
even tht i see here today already everythig reopened,
in reality it will start on wednesday and from there on we hve to Observe.

the countries beefing abou No Ferry Flights, should send a note to their country's canciller, president, queen or what ever high paid representative, and ask why there is no ferry flight for them.
each one of those countries has without any financial troubles the possibilities to send as many ferry flights as they wish to bring their stranded citizens back home.
the DR allows every single on eof those flights, the problem of those countries is their own intern problem, nothing else.

no, most ferry flights are not just between Donald Duck land and DR.
manycountries run ferry flights according to the number of their citizens stranded here on the island.
and considering a country naming itself the Greates of the planet,
i would epect thta the USA does not need anymore ferry flights at all, because they already brought All their stranded citizens safely back home during the now very long last 2MONTHS.
or does someone wanna tell me that they had some financil troubles to send a few planes on Trumps costs to bring those citizens back home???
that so great and always right clown could pay that out of his peronal pocket without anything missing on his personal family's expenses.
all that talk is just big political talk bullsh....

Zero chance until the DR government decides when to re-open the airports to regular flights. Nobody knows yet when that will be and it is probably a moving target for now.

I would not be surprised that when they do allow folks to return to the island they impose a 14 day quarantime like many other places are doing. At least in the beginning. That would make a 2 week casual trip pointless.

I would never expect my home country, the USA, to pay for anyone's flight home to the US. Why do people feel that a government owes them a flight home if they are stranded in another part of the world as if it is some kind of a "right"? I suppose the same kind of person who starts a "GoFundMe" page to pay for such a flight. If Trump had that happen, I would call that bullsh....

As for those wondering about regular flights starting up, they will just have to wait for the government to decide when that will happen. I have neighbors "stranded" out of the DR until then.

No. The country should be asking: "why didn't you take one of the several other flights that we sent 2 months ago with lots of seats open? So NOW you want a free ride home?"

who does not wanna take a ferry flight(in such case a ferry flight should have been taken a long time ago anyways),
has to stay til borders reopen somewhere mid/end summer 2020,
if there will be no delays due failueres on prior "Phases".
