and the Ball is Round
and the Rising Sun did Penalty Harakiri today, he he.

looking forward to the neighbour's challenge Spain-Portugal in a few minutes, I await a hard fight there.
they never played each others at any World Cup Final,
yes, usually they fly back home too early to meet each others on the field, lol.
then we get 2 Days of Soccer rest.

that Argentina Germany game sat morning will be a rough one,
darn, I will not bet any money on any of the 2 Teams.
Mike

If Germany do not win, I will hold you personally responsible Mike!

I really don't like Maradona :)

Dear God, Spain should be at the film awards for a trophy in acting never mind the world cup. Although they won, even England could have won over portugal today.
Teams like Spain really make me embarrassed to bother viewing the games. If I wanted to see good acting I'd go to the cinema.

that's why they usually do not advance very far.
Portugal was soooo weak today,
darn, I don't like the spaniards but I have to admit that they simply been the less bad Team today.
Portugal as usual on the Cups,
they have a good Day and could really face Brazil,
and they have Days like Today when they even let Spain look good.

I could never be friends with a Maradonna,
but the Guy is a Unique in Soccer History,
he did his part on the field,
usually 89.5 minutes of no much movement, but the extra minutes/seconds he did something he produced a important Goal out of that for his Team, even with a Hand of God involved,
who else got ever away with such??
I really respect the compact Midfield/striking unit of that actual Argentina Team,
dangerous grounds for Germany.
Noap,
that has nothing to do with Maradonna,
those great players knew how to play soccer together before Maradonna became the Headcoach of the Team for the commercials.
but be darn sure that we Germans respect that Power on saturday.
and of course we will hit their cheesy defense to he$$, ha ha.
a also really interesting Match will be the Duch against Brazil on Friday,
Yes, Me the German says that,
Yes,
I know Netherlands and Germany are traditionally Soccerwise the same Enemies like England Germany or any of the 3 against Italy, lol,
but they did not been in the Need to do much til now on that Cup,
and what been needed they have Done.
only 1 Goal against in 4 world cup games is a remarkable Stat,
and my beloved Brazilians showed some weakenesses,
backwards and also forwards.
they are too much focused on Starplayers,
when Kaka get's marked seriously they miss their passes towards Robinho&Co.
they should really rely more on the compact Team of Top Players they have.
in that Brazilian Team everybody is good enough of a Top Player to make a Goal of a 35 meters distance the same than tricking out 4 defenders in the 18 yards box and snip it in with the backheel, they should just be reminded on such.
they play too much on their $$$ Starplayers.
I hope Argentina goes on with that same Train on saturday,
focus on Messi,
so Tevez will not get any passes played to.
that Lionel Messi is for oponents a real P.I.T.A.,
yes, I like the lil one.
like I like Forlan of Uruguay,
a working Horse with Top Technical and mental qualities,
his Team does not always get his brilliant ideas, but he Is great IMHO.
unfortunately I will not cheer for him,
Ghana as a African representative in that final stages will get my assistance by beer bottles throwing on their opponents on the screen to assist, he he,
Ghana should forget to try to play european tactics and that kinda discipline,
it does not suit that sympatic Team,
Ghana back to the african soccer Roots/means playing Brazilian street Kids styled, can be a big Surprise-surprise half final competitor.
only their 2nd appearance at a Cup and they face a opponent they really can Beat to make the Half Finals.
from there on anything is possible.
Paraguay-Spain is the Game that has in my opinion no effect on the Final outcome of the Cup, who ever advances from those 2 will be on the Plane home in the Semis, none has/showed the Potential to face the Big Guys IMHO.

my Bet:

out of the 4 quarter final Games the Games B and C show who will be in the Final Match of that Tourney.
and that could easily be a pure European and the same possible way a pure south american One.
close call.
interesting to find out.
I know one who will suffer a lot of heartpain til it's done, lol.

Robert,
don't take Me responsible,
I've been just in charge of that pre-match-weather-report for the flight conditions for Wayne's Flight back home to report to the Queen, he he.
bad Boys
cheers
Mike

I have been pulling for anybody other than the perrineal favorites but will strike Spain off my list as a favorite - at any rate they probably won't win.

If Netherlands can somehow get past Brazil I'm rooting for them.

I believe they will be showing Germany against Argentina at the German House in the Colonial Zone on Isabel La Catolica. And on the 1st saturday of each month they have the German Market there. So there will be German Beer and German Frankfurters. I will be there.

that sounds just like a good reason to be there independent of 'who plays, ha ha.
I will watch the Game at the same Venue where we watched the
"Meet a ROO",
at Steve's Bar in Bavaro.
good screens,
cold beers,
nice waitresses,
weisswurst,
Keasegreiner,
Frikadellen,
and of course I will bring the Mrs and our Boy again.
just the Nice has to skip,
she failed to learn the simplest basics about German Soccer Player's names, she still can not pronounce "Schweinsteiger",
heck,
no mas bailes for the 16 years ole Gal this Year
and her beloved #1 Uncle will not take her to the Game this Saturday.
Bad Gal's behaviors deserve their punishment, lol.

A step in the right direction.....FIFA will consider high-tech changes.....

ASSOCIATED PRESS RELEASE..........Upon furthur review soccer's governing body now agrees that something must be done about the blatent missed calls that have infuriated fans and players alike at the World Cup. A high-tech solution is possible, but it probably would address only the most egregious of refereeing mistakes:whether or not the ball crosses the goal line. Even putting the idea on the table, however, is a concession for an organization that has long insisted that errors by officials are simply part of the game. FIFA president Sepp Blatter said yesterday changes will be considered, and that he has apologized to the English and Mexican teams, both of which were victims of bad calls Sunday. Several other teams were incorrectly denied or granted goals earlier in The World Cup. Blatter said "Something has to be changed" to prevent similar embarrassments in the future. Too much at stake.......I agree........At this stage .....when the whole World is watching..........Ya gotta do it....................

what he admitted been simply that the FIFA will sit down again and Discuss the use of Goal Cameras to assure a ball crossed the line or not and he also made clear in the interview that the FIFA is actually in no way ready nor interested to discuss further involvement of technology aside of the Goal Cameras.

My Opinion:
F.Y. FIFA,
and big Time.

Goal Cameras, nothing new, just allow to use them for Goal decisions.
Offside Cameras, nothing new, just allow them for offside decisions.
harsh Foul play in the back of the referee/out of visual sight of the referees, nothing new, just allow to use them for judgement of Penalties or Red Cards or what the F. so ever.

they don't wanna tell the world that they are a darn old fashioned out of Time agency, their arguments have no value in today's technical possibilities which are used in almost all sports of the Globe.
minus Golfing,
but hey, England has a Green, lol.

they will not come up with something revolutionary soon, it's the FIFA, those old suckers with their youngest member on just around 70 years of age, they are not easy to convince.

Who the Heck likes/loves/appreciates in any Sport false referee decisions as Part Of The Game?????

Blatter does not have a Clue what the heck he is talking about.

maybe it's the Age.
bring a New wind in Guys, stay up to date with Time.

winds of change

I dunno, Mike. They changed the heck out of that ball. Only the Germans adopted it into their league play and so far it looks like only the Germans are not having trouble with it.

..and MLB loves umpires making erratic calls.

Hey Grey,
that's a undeserved bad sidehit IMHO.
yes, the Germans did not get the 2nd Goal by England,
but be honest Buddy,
that Game overall, this time the English Team would not have deserved a Victory, not even through a ""Wembley Goal"", lol.
and the 2nd group game of Germany went lost through very bad referee decisions, a Game which will be a long lasting reason to Cheers for anybody but Spain in the remainding Games, lol.
and that been a Fair Played Game by both Teams, with hard yellow card decisions against both Teams, damaging a good Game completely, and the Red against Klose been a real decider.
even that Germany with a Man Down still had good control of the Game and for their own fault did not equalize by that Penalty.

I don't see just Germany influenced by those numerous bad Referee decisions in the several Games of this World Cup.

remember the "beating action" of the Spaniard yesterday?
not did he not get a Red Card,
not even a free kick or penalty or similar been given,
the Victim been told harshly to S.T.F.U. and go on with his Play or go home.

they have to change or they will loose big time on the worldwide events.
they make money by promoting their events over worldwide TV,
they should use worldwide TV to stay in big Business.

ooh Yeaahh,
it sure has.
would the USA have made the Quarter finals at least the FIFA could have sold a 100 million extra T-shirts/balls/hats/socks/x-mas tree figures etc,
and if China would Play a Role on that Field you could have multiplied those numbers by 100 at least, lolololol.

they simply do not do a good job to themselves by sticking to stoneage thingies in Today's Times.

Hey,
it was only 1970 when they invented the Penalty shootout as a decider to the Soccer World Cup, did ya know that???
did ya know that a simple Coin been flipped as the decider prior to that???

they neeeeed Young Blood,

Mike

btw,
it was a smart German who invented the Penalty shootout, lol.

the Germans are the 2nd most successful Penalty shootout Team on the Record.
out of a Total of 7 Penalty shootouts they lost 2 and won 5.

the bad thingy for saturday is:

Argentina is the only more successful Team,
the all Time record holder in case of winning/loosing Ratio,
they had 11 shootouts and lost 3, Won 8.

so I am def not looking forward on a Penalty shootout decider this sat, lol
