Platano, is not said when you have someone in front of you, but when they are passing by, instead of saying hello and bye - they just say bye bye...

Sort of when people are sitting at their galeria and the old people say abul abul - is the same thing...

Talldrink, that make total sence to me now. Everytime we visited her in Bani, after lunch we would take our reposoon thegaleria. She would always say "abul, abul" to the people riding by on horseback. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

P.S. Have fun in ST. Marteen

Here is a new one that I actually thought was good Spanish.

"A favor de" instead of "hazme el favor de"

One that I have heard fairily often after making a new acquaintance at the local golf course after learning that I'm a gringo:

"Tu te jodiste"

"Tu te aplatanaste por completo"

A favor de =in favor of

Maybe it was:
Haz el favor de (The deletion of z produces: Ha el favor de)

Also: hame el favor de (deletion of z)

But el is never deleted.

I "gotta" tell you, Chiporelly, out of ALLLL DR1 members, I am very intrigued with you.....

I really would like to see for myself if you are "aplatanado" and to see if it's true what AZB said once...That you talk like a pure cibaeno.

I have seen Dominicans married to Puerto Ricans and talking like a Puerto Rican....But a "gringo" talking like a cibaeno, I have not seen one...I know I will NOT control myself and laugh 'till no end!!. Wahahaha!.

Btw, it was probably: "a ei favoi". LOL.

First beer's on me, however it won't be long before you realize that I am pure gringo, in that I have to be home by 11 - the leash I'm on is quite long, haha! Or as some Doms call me, "gobernado".

El otro dia....

The other day I was talking to a Dominican friend in the DR and he said to me, AFTER paying ALLLLLLL his bills:

"Contra, estoy mas apretado que un nino envuelto".

I am like, "what, what in hell do you mean".

He meant to say that after paying all his bills, that he was broke!!.

sorry for being "metiche" pero... I'm gonna say you are feeding her too much milk, heheh
breast milk should be enough at least for the first 4 months, I know some babies cry but the more you feed her the more she'll want.......feeding times should be set......ok i'm out
