asopao michilonga!!

My favorites are:
1-Chivo Guisao with green bananas and aguacate
2-Sancocho, white rice and aguacates
3-Mofongo con any meat guisada
4-Bacalao with white rice and habichuelas and of course aguacate salad
5-Chuletas ahumadas, saute onions over green fried platanos!!

Any of the above with a Presidente will do!!

I need to stop!! Getting hungry!!

I like...

...the fruit, vegetables, juices, and seafood BEFORE the addition of excessive amounts grease, salt, and sugar and BEFORE the OVERCOOKING until everything turns the same washdc out shades of grey and brown. There is so much excellent produce and other foods here but some of the preparation techniques ruin it.

Some extreme examples:

-adding evaporated milk to fresh local cherry juice (right about this time of year)

-adding sugar to the excellent fruit juices until they are crunchy sweet,k transofrming them into liquid diabetes

-turning an already greasy empanada into something that looks like a trauma victim by sketching a crazy quilt of mayonnaise and ketchup

-salting seafood until it becomes rigid and forms a vicious circle of unhealthy eating with the syrupy fruit juice and milk drinks

-worst of all for me is over refrigerating Presidente until it's indistinguishible in taste from ice water

The saving grace is the quality of the raw ingredients. Anyone interested can avoid the above.

There's nothing quite like chimichurri and fritura after a night out drinking lots of presidente and brugal. Sure hits the spot at 4 am after the club.

I like Malta

For breakfast I like a Malta India. Many people, Dominicans included look at my bottle with disgust. I agree it's an acquired taste!

Cassava Bread

Cassava Bread, with whatever the stuff is that Hillbilly give you to put on it, and a very cold Brahama or Presidente in his living room after a warm day at Los Aromas.
