The first tropical storm of the Atlantic hurricane season has the Dominican Republic in its line of sight, but forecasters expect it to weaken prior to reaching Dominican coasts. The coordinates of the storm at 11am on Wednesday, 11 June are Latitude 9.8 North, Longitude 44.9 West. The US weather service reports that the tropical depression was located just over 1,800kms (1120 miles) east-southeast of the Windward Islands. The depression is moving to the west at a speed of 32kms (20 miles) per hour. US weather forecasters say it is likely to become a weak tropical storm later today, and then peter out as it encounters a less favorable environment. See
