Central Bank: 0.06% inflation in June

Central Bank reports indicate that last month inflation measured according to the Consumer Price Index in June was practically nil, reaching just 0.06%. Diario Libre reports that the accumulated index for the first semester of 2005 reached 0.82% and during the last 12 months was 0.98%. According to the Bank, this demonstrates that following the period of economic crisis and high inflation, the Dominican economy is undergoing a process of adjustment and correction in the prices of goods and services in accordance with the stability reflected in the foreign exchange rate. The Central Bank states that prudent management of monetary policy has placed the country among those with lowest inflation rates in Latin America.
