The World Bank’s representative in the DR, Cristina Malmberg Calvo, wants the government to fight against discretionality, administrative corruption, and improve institutionalism, as challenges that must be faced after reaching promising macroeconomic results, as reported in Clave Digital. The multilateral organization’s official also recommended that the government take measures aimed at improving governance, a key aspect in restoring trust both nationally and internationally. Malmberg was speaking during a master conference on the WB programs in the DR, which was being held at the Central Bank under the auspices of the Dominican-International Businesswomen’s Federation (FEM) and the DR Commercial Banking Association (ABA). Malmberg Calvo, who is the first woman to represent the WB locally, confessed that she was surprised at the country’s level of politicization compared to many places she has visited around the world.
