Brewery will invest RD$300 million

Listin Diario reports that the Cerveceria Nacional Dominicana, makers of Presidente beer, is planning to invest approximately RD$300 million within the next three to five years, on the understanding that the beer market will continue to grow and their products will be increasingly competitive. This information was given by Rafael Menicucci, the company’s president, during a meeting with the daily newspaper’s executives, also attended by the president of Grupo Leon Jimenes, Jose Leon Asencio, and Director of Communications, Teodoro Hidalgo. Menicucci also informed that the company is continuing to develop its export market, which has increased 24% over that past 10 years, mostly in the US and the Caribbean islands. He explained that approximately 5% of their beer production is exported whereas 95% is sold locally. The company has an installed capacity of 5 million hectoliters (500 million liters).

The announcement precedes a major advertising campaign that is preparing the market for the launch of beers marketed by AmBev Dominicana, the affiliate of Interbrew-Ambev, the world’s largest brewery.
