Carnival continues

March is also a month for carnival in the Dominican Republic. Celebrations continue on Tuesday, 2 March with a Carnival Night at the Teatro Monina Sola at the Centro Cultural Narciso Gonzalez at 8pm. A Carnival Arts & Crafts Fair is being held from 1 to 6 March, 10am to 11pm at the Plaza Juan Baron on the Malecon.

The grand carnival procession in Santo Domingo starts at 3pm on Sunday, 7 March with more than 160 carnival troupes and floats parading from the Obelisk to the Banco Agricola.

A Dominican Carnival photo exhibition continues until 7 March at the Parque Independencia Public Art Gallery.

Carnival goes east to Punta Cana on Saturday, 20 March. More than 1,000 carnival characters from 15 provinces nationwide will parade along Boulevard 1 de noviembre in Punta Cana Village from 4pm. The event is being organized by the Puntacana Group, which operates Punta Cana International Airport and the Puntacana Resort.
