The leading banking group, Grupo Popular announced it would close this year the operations of its US affiliate, the BPD Bank that has branches in New York and Miami. The decision is part of the recently approved review of its 2011-2014 Strategic Plan. The group said that it continue to operate in the US directly through its affiliate GP Investments Corp.
Customers of the BPD Bank are being offered the option to bank at the Popular Bank Limited Inc in Panama, or other Grupo Popular financial institutions in the Dominican Republic, including the Banco Popular Dominicano.
