Diandino Pena, director of the Transport Reorganization Office (OPRET), better known as the Metro Office, has said that they are working hard to test the next line of the Santo Domingo Metro before the 20 May 2016 presidential election. The Santo Domingo Metro has contributed to improving the quality of life for many city residents and the next section connects Santo Domingo’s most populated area with the main business and commercial district.
Diandino said that construction was around 50% complete and if funding continues at the current pace, the work would be ready on schedule.
The second line of the Metro will cross Greater Santo Domingo from Av. Francisco del Rosario Sanchez on the eastern side to Av. Gregorio Luperon and Av. John F. Kennedy Avenue on the National District side.
