Energy drinks increase hypertension in young people

Research on Heart Risk Factors in Young People presented at the Dominican Cardiology Society’s 25th Congress has found that around 250,000 young people between the ages of 18 and 30 suffer from blood hypertension. This can be linked to the use of substances to increase their physical stamina, such as energy drinks, alcohol and tobacco. Cardiologist Miguel Arias said that it places these people at risk of dying or suffering permanent lesions to their heart or brain, as reported in Diario Libre.
