With the grace period granted within the National Foreigner Legalization Plan (PNRE) for foreigner status regularization now ended, the Migration Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Relations, the Ministry of Defense, the National Police and other institutions have coordinated a strategy to implement the repatriations of undocumented people who are found in the country and who did not register under the plan. Director of Migration, General Ruben Dario Paulino Sem is advising all foreigners with irregular status who registered for the PNRE Plan to carry the documentation they received from the Ministry of Interior and Police with them at all times to prevent problems when immigration patrols ask for their papers.
Paulino Sem said they are also working with the Chief of Police, Manuel Castro Castillo. “In this case the Police are supporting us in intelligence work across the country and in identifying where the greatest number of undocumented people are located,” said Paulino Sem.
