JCE has issued cedulas to 154,000 Dominicans overseas

According to Rosario Graciano, the Central Electoral Board (JCE) has been able to issue 154,010 new ID cards (cedulas) for Dominicans living overseas so they may vote in the 2016 elections.

She told Diario Libre that 13 JCE offices are issuing the new identity and voting documents in the United States, Puerto Rico and Europe, based in cities such as New York, Philadelphia, Washington, Boston, Miami, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan and Amsterdam.

The JCE has identified 328,649 Dominican citizens who live overseas. In 2012, a total of 97,412 citizens exercised their right to vote. The largest number of Dominicans was registered in the United States.
