Opposition political party PRM deputy Josefa Castillo and a party commission have requested that the Ministry of Education deliver copies of the contracts for public school breakfasts and lunch, repairs of schools granted to legislators and persons designated by these legislators. Castillo suspects that these contracts may have been rewarded in exchange for the favorable vote of the PRSC deputies for the passing of the change to the Constitution that allows for the re-election of President Danilo Medina. Votes of PLD legislators were not enough to pass the re-election change.
The PRM legislators have requested copies of all the contracts signed by the Ministry and suppliers from 2013, 2014 and those granted in 2015. Also requested through the freedom of information act is documentation supporting the tenders for the granting of these contracts during the periods in question and copy of payments made to the suppliers during those periods.
