The Political Committee of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) met last night, 29 June 2015, and its 32 members agreed to form committees to discuss the different alliances the party has announced for the upcoming elections in May 2016. Alliances have been reached with the Progressive Block, the Social Reform Christian Party (PRSC) and the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD).
The committees will be coordinated by the general secretary of the PLD, Reinaldo Pared Perez, and will include Alejandrina German, Carlos Pared, Felix Bautista and Danilo Diaz.
Pared Perez also said the Central Committee on 18 July at 10am to review the presidential nomination, which will most likely be Danilo Medina, but the due process has to be followed correctly. There will be a meeting of the Political Committee the previous day, 17 July. The Political Committee also determined that the calendar for the activities to choose candidates at different levels will be presented at the same time.
In addition, Pared Perez announced Lidio Cadet would coordinate the party’s electoral commission.
