According to Dominican Journalists’ College (CDP) on Sunday 26 July 2015, journalist Pedro Ventura committed suicide by shooting himself in the head.
Olivo De Leon, president of the CDP, expressed his sadness at Ventura’s death saying he had worked for radio stations, television stations, public relations offices as well as newspapers, including Listin Diario. He said that he was one of the best Dominican journalists.
De Leon said he did not know the reasons behind the death of his colleague, but that Ventura would be irreplaceable.
De Leon noted that many journalists had died this year, including Roberto Lebron, Blas Olivo, Rafael de la Cruz Lopez (Livin), Hipolito Carrasco, Felix Frank Ayuso, among others.
