Changes in Cuba are good for DR

Deloitte in the Dominican Republic says that the commercial opening of Cuba with the United States represents great opportunities for the DR both for exports and imports of goods and services to meet the growing demands on the island.

Analyst Nassim Jose Alemany explained that the demand for goods in Cuba has increased 100% in the past three years. He said the Cuba’s re-establishment of diplomatic and trade ties with the US will multiply this trend. He says there are opportunities for the export of pork, fruit conserves, fruits and vegetables, fuel, select household electronics, clothing, cooking oil, detergents and alcoholic beverages. He observed the DR universities could benefit from an influx of Cuban professors in medicine and education, as reported in acento.com.do
