
On Sunday night, 20 May 2018, naval spokesman, Colonel Francisco Augusto Lizardo González was shot and wounded along with his five-year old son. He was shot twice, once in the shoulder and once in the back and is currently in the Intensive Care Unit at the Armed Forces Hospital in Santo Domingo where his condition is said to be stable. The child was injured in the right foot.
The incident happened in front of his apartment in the El Millón sector in the National District and following the attack the perpetrators fled the scene on a motorcycle. Preliminary investigations by the Police lead to believe robbery was the motive for the assault, but witnesses say the man was being followed.
According to the Police, Colonel Lizardo had just come down from his second floor apartment in the Paseo de los Deportes Street, to collect his dinner which his children were bringing him, He noticed two men on a motorcycle, behaving suspiciously and one shot him while he was trying to pull out his service weapon which was stuck.
The two men were dressed in black, the driver was thin, brown skin, and the one who did the shooting, on the back on the motorcycle was short, heavily muscled and with a lot of hair.
