InterEnergy Group Ltd and AES Dominicana will be operating as Energia Natural Dominicana (Enadom) to market natural gas in the East of the country. The new corporation groups the power plants operating under the Compañía de Electricidad San Pedro de Macoris (CESPM), the Consorcio Energetico Punta Cana Macao (CEPM) that serves the communities of Bavaro, Bayahibe, Verón, Punta Cana, Macao, Miches and Uvero Alto.
A 50 km natural gas pipeline is under construction in the East, as well as a new of 120,000 cubic meters storage tank.
“This is a very important partnership, perhaps one of the most important in the country’s energy sector in recent years, as it brings together the collective effort of companies that have made significant investments over the years, which are now being focused on more clean energy,” said Rolando González Bunster, Chairman & CEO of InterEnergy.
The partnership calls for investing over US$300 million over the next four years to provide the eastern region of the country with natural gas for electricity generation, industrial and domestic use.
