Most of the attention for the Sunday, 16 February 2020 municipal election in the Dominican Republic is concentrated on the highly contested National District race. The contenders are Domingo Contreras, Dominican Liberation Party (PLD); Carolina Mejía, running for the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM); Michael Miguel of the Green Party (PV); Bartolomé Pujals for Alianza País; Johnny Ventura for the People’s Force (FP) and the Social Christian Reformist Party (PRSC).
The race is highly contested between Carolina Mejía and Domingo Contreras.
