Sahara dust coverage continues this week

Satellite photos provided by the United States’ National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, NOAA, show a cloud of dust coming from the Sahara desert arriving to the Caribbean on Monday, 22 June 2020. This is the second massive cloud of dust to blanket the Caribbean this month. Meteorologists say the coverage is of a size and concentration level that they hadn’t seen in roughly half a century. Nevertheless, the second dust wave is forecast to be less dense than the first that happened last week.

People are recommended to stay indoors. Expect hazy skies, reduced air quality and, at the same time, vibrant sunrises and sunsets.

In Santo Domingo, on Tuesday morning the skies were a light blue.
