The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the United States has issued a Level 3 Travel Health Notice for the Dominican Republic due to Covid-19. The US State Department upgraded the Dominican Republic from the red-colored level 4 travel advisory to the orange-colored level 3. The United States issues a travel advisory per country. While level four travel advisory is a recommendation to “don’t travel”, level three tells US travelers to “reconsider travel.”
The 4-week positivity rate in the Dominican Republic is at 10.57% and as of the data for the 18 November Covid-19 bulletin, the 7-day reported positive PCR test average is 556 cases. The rate of deaths per 1M in the country is 211 that favorably compares to 773 in the United States.
