Country Brand launched in New York

President Luis Abinader led the launch of the Country Brand strategy on 22 September 2021 in New York City. The initiative is to strengthen the positive perception and promote business and investment in the United States. The United States is the Dominican Republic’s leading trading partner. The New York/New Jersey area is also home to more than 1.5 Dominican ex-pats.

President Abinader, First Lady Raquel Arbaje, Tourism Minister David Collado; the president of the Country Brand Commission for the private sector, Ligia Bonetti and the director of ProDominicana, Biviana Riveiro headed the presentation of the country brand at a hall of the Ziegfeld Ballroom, on 54th Street in Manhattan.

The presentation focused on the five pillars that make up the country brand — investment, exports, tourism, culture and citizenship. The leadership motivated the Dominican diaspora to become ambassadors of the country brand in the United States.

President Abinader stressed during the presentation that every Dominican living abroad is an example of the country’s hospitality to tourists. “The Country Brand logo represents each one of us Dominicans,” he said.

During the ceremony, Baseball Cooperstown Hall of Fame members Pedro Martínez and Vladimir Guerrero were recognized and accredited as the country brand ambassadors.
