Puerto Plata now has two cruise ship terminals – the new Taino Bay that opened this December 2021 and Amber Cove that has been receiving cruise ships since 2015. On Tuesday, 20 December, cruise ships bringing around 10,000 travelers were in Puerto Plata on the same day. These were the Virgin Scarlet Lady, which docked at Taino Bay. Taino Bay is located walking distance from historical attractions of Puerto Plata city. Mardi Gras and Carnival Liberty of Carnival Cruises docked at Amber Cove. This port is a half an hour drive from Puerto Plata’s historic center.
