Dominican tourism brought in more than US$5.6 billion in 2021, and the last four months of the year were the best ever. Just in December there were more than 725,000 visitors, and in the last quarter there were close to 1.7 million.
The first quarter of the year represented only 38% of the numbers from 2019. However, the numbers rose quickly and by the second quarter of the year were already 69% of the 2019 total for the same period.
The third quarter resulted to be 99% of 2019. The last quarter outdid any of the forecasts with 116% of the 2019 numbers.
Other interesting numbers were the 4.4/5 approval rating by visitors. And honeymooners gave the country gave it 5/5!
Overseas Dominicans certainly contributed to the good numbers, and non-resident foreigners were 127% up over 2019. Good numbers all.
